No, but a long time ago I worked as a voluntary grief counsellor. Today would have been Splint's 46th birthday. I need to take my own advice

What's the hardest thing you've had to deal with in life?

Yes, there's some in the pantry. I wouldn't think you would want it with eggy bread through.

I've just had some porridge. I have been really good on my diet, but yesterday we went to Pizza Hut and I was determined only to have one piece of pizza and have lots of salad. However, there was nothing much in the salad section except for stuff loaded with mayo etc, unless I just wanted to have lettuce, tomatoes, peppers and cucumber in a bowl, which I thought would be a bit boring. So, as you can guess, I then leading up the bowl with all the other stuff and ended up eating four pieces of pizza. Oh well, the thought was there. I'm going out for a meal again on Saturday with some family members I haven't seen for a long time, so that will stop the diet again, but it will be nice to meet up with them.

Don't you think that dieting is particularly hard in today's society where we meet and go out for meals such a lot and there are so many food outlets?

It's not at all easy and harder as we get older to shift the weight I find.

Maple syrup is gorgeous and it goes very well with savoury breakfasty things! The real stuff is spenno though ......

I've made the first part of the festive cakes and the house smells of luscious things....cloves, cinnamon, brandy, oranges and lemons!!! Also been back to the smallholding by the woods and got a huge bagful of cooking apples for 50p. I shall make apple crumble later and have stored the rest in a cardboard box, wrapped in old paper bags. Regards dieting the cake recipe says a slice of this cake once marzipanned and iced is not far shy of 700 cals!! Have decided to make it into lots of small cakes, so I can keep one for the solstice

Nip of brandy in your coffee? It's in mine

Depends on the size of the cake. Just made an apple crumble from some of the cooking apples I got earlier, and first lot of Chrimbo cake is in the oven. Oh the smells, the smells!!! I sound like a Quasimodo of the kitchen

Custard or cream with the crumble?

Incredibly rarely! It's a good job you said custard, cos I've got no cream and not going shopping today. I actually don't like cream all that much and prefer creme fraiche. But don't have that often either. The only time cream is the rules is clotted for a lovely fresh scone with jam and butter.

Of course, although not as the medieval romances describe him. He is legend, based on fact, of not one man but likely many. I expect he was a warlord in early Roman Britain of Celtic ancestry but possibly with some Roman blood.

Did Merlin exist?

Possible, an adviser certainly but in terms of Magik I would see him more as a spiritualist and pagan than a wizard

Have you read Beowolf??

I have both versions, and both of them well worth a look IMHO. Different, but each has its merits

Do you use apps?

Lappy, kindle, elderly android phone. I don't fire up the PC much these days, old and cranky!

How long have you had your phone? Had mine four years, it belonged to my DIL for about two years before that, it was very new technology when she first got it.

At the moment yes, since I got all the Mythago Wood series on it. Just finishing Merlin's Wood, the last one. Back to real books after, which I prefer.

Do you like visiting old castles and ruins?
