Asking the wrong person, I have had no conscience in cutting out negative influences in my life

Ever refuse to speak to a family member... your own or your partner's family??
Yup - usually when one of my brothers had p*ssed me off. (Although that rarely lasted more than an hour.)

Had it not been for the Paris attacks, would Eagles of Death Metal be one of the nominees for the Best International Group at the Brit Awards this year?

Possibly not...

I'll repeat the question:

The Aid worker who tried to smuggle a little girl from the refugee camp in Calais trying to get her to family in Leeds....a hero or a fool?

Bit of both. He could have been a hero but others snuck aboard and he did get caught which would be very foolish

Burial or cremation??

Cremation.

Thanks for the advice about SIL everyone. I agree, I would just love to be finished with her. But I can't tell her she isn't welcome in my house, when it is my husband's house too. Also another problem is that if I cut her off completly, then I won't get to see my neice and nephew who seem to think she is wonderful and won't see my great niece and nephew (and another one on the way) either and I don't want to cut them off. What a problem families are. None of them really come here, it is always us that have to do the visiting and fall in with what they want, so I could just stop going I suppose. She seems to have one rule for me and one for everyone else and the rules change everytime they suit her and it's like a constant game of pussyfooting around her and walking on eggshells and I am tired of getting upset about it all.

Anyway, sorry for burdening you all with it, thanks for being friendly enough for me to feel able to do that.

Is it snowing yet where you are?

I think snow has been forecast, but seems to be cold and wet here for the time being. I hate icy pavements!

Do you like Spanish food? .

Switzerland? I once spent a week in June in Arosa which is mountainous. It was beautiful and the weather was nice. The only snow there was on top of the mountains. Lovely mountain railway and cows with bells on. Do you go fishing?

No, it's not a programme I've ever watched.

Is there any soap that you have watched faithfully since the beginning? For me it was Brookside and I watched it from when it began right up to when it finished in 2003.

Completely subverting the above question, I'd say that it is not rhetorical.

When the recipe says, "Slice a stick of celery lengthwise into four strips" can you produce four indistinguishable strips or does your knife wander off sideways?
