I don't like walking under ladders, but that's more that I think they will fall on my head

How often do you drink herbal tea, or not at all?

Yes. No amount of placating the gods will make any difference. And blood sacrifice is absolutely pointless

According to a survey no Icelanders under 25 believe God created the world or the Universe. Will this become universal?

Yes, it's not about skin colour it's about talent. Some years nearly all the nominees could be black. Maybe hasn't happened yet but it could. Would white directors kick off? I doubt it.
Halle Berry is the only black actress to have won an oscar. It is rare I agree with Spike but the nomination choice this year was piss poor to say the least.

BIB - a joke surely??

I believe so, certainly Christianity is on the wane in England

I'm dubious about the sample side of the research in Finland but 93% said that they were atheist and the others put either of two variations on 'don't know'

Will you be crying out for god on your death bed??

Certainly not Splint had to fight off the catholic priests trying to give him the last rites in hospital as his mother had said he was Catholic. He told one of them to **** off!!

Did you know after a burial sometimes an iron cage was put over the grave to keep the undead vampire spirit inside?

No, I know that the idea of vampires came from this 'invasion' of Hungarians and other Eastern Europeans coming to England which inspired Stoker. Hence some villages dug up people and drove stakes into where their heart had been

Are you ignoring my other post, twass??

No but I have never seen that Does it happen more in GD??

I meant that in theory, of course most nominees could be black in future years, if it so happened they were the most deserving of the award. Not being a cinema goer I am not familiar with the films up for oscars but I know the panel are mostly white men. Having faith in humanity I would hope this wouldn't skew the noms as that would suggest the panel was racist, which hopefully isn't the case.

What I don't know however is if the films chosen featured black actors or not....never been that interested in awards ceremonies, who chooses the films?

The 13 membership categories are Actors, Art Directors, Cinematographers, Directors, Executives, Film Editors, Music, Producers, Public Relations, Short Films and Feature Animation, Sound, Visual Effects and Writers. Most are white and male, all appear to be over 60

Oh yeah, Straight Outta Compton got an oscar nomination... for Best Original Screenplay by Jonathan Herman and Andrea Berloff. Both Caucasian

What will win Best Picture??

My wife ain't well so again it will be... pizza!!

Star Wars isn't nominated. Didn't think you had seen it either

Out of those nominated I would say it would be Joy or The Big Short (both good, Joy not nominated! ) or The Revenant (not yet seen )...

So... from:-

The Big Short
Bridge of Spies
Brooklyn
Mad Max: Fury Road
The Martian
The Revenant
Room
Spotlight

Which will win??

Oddschecker is giving The Big Short at 10/1 as compared to Spotlight at 11/8. I think I might give it a punt
