Very likely, the world has changed a lot since then. Can you believe I never saw a black person until I was in secondary school? England was very WHITE back in the 70s.....

However a Japanese businessman and his family moved into the rented house a few doors up from ours when I was about nine. I remember the two lovely little children, Yugi and Yoiti. Mum nor the kids had any English, they only stayed a year, but we were allowed to play with the children and mum would give us strange Japanese sweets they must have had sent. The kids were around 3 and 5, tiny, like little dolls.....I loved them

Do you still have clear memories of childhood friends?

KInda, I guess I was a goddawful child at school however!!

Were you well behaved at school??
ChoccyCarole

Edit - yes I was always very well behaved - everywhere

Yes - had lots of friends ...then we moved away when I was almost 10 to the dorma bungalow opposite the petrol station still there on the Main road / Higher Road which leads to the Runcorn Bridge
This was like road were you rarely ever saw any other people
Was told that it full of retired people -
there were no friends to play with

Bought some Quality Scottish vegetarian Haggis
**Simon Howie's Haggis Company - Vegetarian ** - reduced to just 75p
Never saw or tried this before now
It is delicious
Have had it yesterday and this morning -
with fresh sprouts and mixed salad yum
Would you try some ?

Dunno. I prefer my occasional haggis au naturel, as it were, with bits of animal (I hesitate to say meat) in it.

Do you give your haggis the full monty treatment, namely tatties and neeps and (optional) a wee dram?
silentNate
06-02-2016
I don't eat haggis, I eat no meat

In your household it would be a wee dram of what??

ChoccyCarole

Maybe once or twice a month lately

Using this laptop for the first time to post in here since the 18th January
I collected it on Thursday night and got the WiFi back on it
but the whole thing is not much pleasure the way it works now
It feels all wrong as all the repair guy removed ALL of it's memory in order to be able to use it again

I set up a bunch of my Faves last night - but now they are not showing at the top of the page = Grrrrr can't get my Garmin Connect - working to synchronize with my wrist's Garmin ViVo fit
also this morning I received and set up my new Virgin TiVo set top box
and I have set that all up this afternoon and I prefer the old way - as the text is so tiny now grrrrrrrrr grrrrr the remote is a pffaff -
even changing the channel is making me grrrrrr

Do you ever have days when technology is just a pain in the rrrrs ?
silentNate
06-02-2016
Oh yes, set up our new monitors recently but my wife is still yet to set up her speakers and I know that will mean shifting things around again

Ever visited Guernsey??
ChoccyCarole
06-02-2016
No

have you ??
twassington
06-02-2016
Yes, once for a day trip when on a school trip to Jersey for a few days. We went to Guernsey and also visited Herm Very nice memories of it all [other than the lairy waiters in the hotel we stayed in who tried to get off with us girls - we were twelve!!

Sorry to hear of the technology woes. We do rely on our internetty gear and I have to say I like my lappy set up how I likes it. Getting a new one is very weird at first!!!

I eats fish about four times a week and sometimes more even than that! What with sardines on toast for lunch and tuna sarnies etc. But I never tire of it.

Are you adventurous with food or stick to old favourite recipies?
silentNate
06-02-2016
I'm not that adventurous I'm afraid... very little I've not tried in terms of fish and eating no meat means there is little new to try

Are you??
ChoccyCarole
07-02-2016
I am always trying new things

I am enjoying a tub of marinated anchovy fillets this week / another bargain buy
And I always enjoy eating fish pies

Been up since before 4am - The TV IS NOT WORKING
The grrrrrrr !!!!!! Continues

Eventually I have decided to stop trying for a while & turn my Wifi on >> to use my trusty wittle Kindle
Have just finished a mug of tea >>>>>> Off to make another one now
The house is **techno silent** and I do like my TV to be !! on !!
Pets are awake and wondering why
: but having a play and a mad 😸>> dash about

Have you had a good sleep ??
silentNate
07-02-2016

What do you need less of in your life?
ChoccyCarole
07-02-2016
Yes ...... Have been hearing the dawn chorus here ever since about 7-15am when it started to become light .. there was a heavy downpour to start their day

They are all still chirping out there and hopefully enjoying all the suet fat balls I've put in a few of the holders on the bird feeding poles
They haven't been eating much of the bread & bird seed mix as they used to

Right now I need less techno blimmin probs
