On Monday last week I got some food bargains at the supermarket
I always get many food bargains every single time I go to the supermarket
and I am going there again later today

I had an idea recently - to set a date in the local area
where everyone nearby could come
and set out all the stuff - that they wanted to sell off
on - one of the central local fenced grassy areas / - -

I think this would be a great idea to have happen at least once a year in the summer
No cars would be used on the grass
- just carry your stuff over and make a day of it !!

Or a few people get together - in order to sell - some things off
Just using their garden etc

Do you think these are good ideas ??
- and do you think you need to get special permission to do this on a public grassy area ??

I think it would be a great idea....and if you are not causing any sort of blockage I see no reason why you would need permission. If folks can still walk by OK it should be fine. You could make a load of cakes and sell those too if you wanted....and maybe sell spare plants you'd grown or produce from your gardens/allotments. Sounds a fabulous idea!

Living as cut off as I do, in order to share a day like that I would still have to lug all the stuff I would sell/give to the village in my car, which would mean a few trips....that's if any locals were up for it. They sell garden and allotment stuff in the autumn in a stall by the cricket pitch and folks leave stuff by their gate with an honesty box or just a sign saying "Take these books if wanted" or similar.

I might freecycle those two folding baby beds To send to new homes.

Do you hoard things?

Yes

What's for dinner??

Roasted med veggies and rice with chorizo. I'm thinking of doing enough for two days. Do you often eat the same thing two or even three days running?
ChoccyCarole
29-03-2016
Yes - I do that sometimes - especially if I lost a decent amount of weight each day [ such as 2lbs each day ]
I sometimes will have the same foods again - for a few days in a row

That is what I thought too Twassy re the grassy areas

Yes I do accumulate things and many things are sentimental etc and other things were bought because I needed them - so I would not part with them as they were costly and would be useful in the future

I have things such as a very large and a smaller fish tank - still here unused since 2010
I had bought both tanks - for quite a bit of money
for my friends pair of fish - which were living together in a *very* small plastic tank -

I minded these lovely little fish for my friend - here in 2001
along with her big Dog (( Max ♥ )) -
who I minded here with me and my Whippet Cross (( Trudie ♥ )) - they were lovely together
and the local kiddies came in - and loved the doggies too xx♥♥xx

On a couple of her Previous holidays I had gone over
and collected her 5♥ ? Super Cute and hamsters - all with such big personalities
as well as their pair of Loving little Budgies ♥♥

I returned each day to her house to spend time and feed her dog
feed the Koi and big fish in their big fish pond
and turn the Audi car engine over in the garage once a week etc

This time when they went on holiday in 2001 -
She never wanted the pair of * fish pals * back
So both little goldfishy pals ended up living with me (( ♥ ♥ ))
In 2002 I got a proper medium glass tank for the surviving fish
Then in 2007 - I got the much larger 3.5 foot - wide and deep tank for her in 2007
on a very sturdy wooden stand

This One ♥ lovely fish luckily survived >>>> Here all alone
But very sadly this lovely goldfish died - in the huge tank in about 2010

I still have her large tank here with all her little fun things she enjoyed using - still there in the tank

Having a van to come and collect is the easy way to remove my really good things from the house
and I have always been very happy to do this each time

But after spending so much money on buying many of these great items
which are all still in perfect condition
I recently started to think -- I may
** Really need some of that money one day - for some very important reasons **

At the worst - Even if you get 50p for every single item - that could add up to a fair amount
Hence the things are ALL still here at this stage - till I get around to doing one thing or another

Would you feel the same £way ??

Pretty much, I've got a terrible goldfish memory though and fear if I let go of some things then I will lose the memories

Do you like Battenberg??
twassington
29-03-2016
I love Battenburg! I once had a coffee and plain version of it rather than pink and plain. It was GORGEOUS.

Mini twass and I discussed at the weekend the rightness or wrongness of selling two rings which my mother had, one belonged to her mother and the other to her stepmother but I am not sure which was which. These are diamond and gold rings and neither of us would ever wear them, but they are family things......but mini twass is doing a three year counselling course which will cost her about £7K plus she will need to go part time at work next year to fit in all the requirements of the course. She has a good job in town but it will be hard going. We wondered if it would be right to sell the rings and use the money to help out with the course expenses. If my mum was here I feel sure she would say yes.

What do you think?
silentNate
29-03-2016
I wouldn't sell them but then I'm the wrong person to ask as I am a bit of a hoarder

Would you straight sell them or sell them at auction??
Picto
29-03-2016
Twass could go on one of those daytime tv shows to sell them.

(I wouldn't sell the rings either).

Which daytime tv show would you appear on
twassington
29-03-2016
I'd never go on telly!!

If I sell them it would just be in a high street jeweller. I know if we decide to keep them they will just sit in a drawer til I cark it, and then go to mini twass anyhow. But with family things it's more about is it right to sell them. Difficult one!!

Do you watch daytime TV? I avoid it like the plague!

Yes

On BBC Breakfast say they do a segment say on Depression, they will have a depression sufferer on the show to say about the condition, How do the BBC choose which person goes on as many suffer with the condition
ChoccyCarole
29-03-2016
I have not seen it - but they probably choose the ones who can relay their experiences with it quite well

I have my tv on from the moment I wake up and it is on till I am asleep
unless I am out

I know what you mean Nate xx♥ ♥xx
I keep everything connected to all my pets - who are all very much missed forever and ever

I would feel bad to sell your mum's ring -
& I don't think people really get ** a lot ** of money for such items
The buyers are the luckier ones

It is shocking that such old beautiful items - with - wonderful craftsmanship - sell for so little

If things do not take up much space and you would hardly get much for it -
I would much rather keep them -
The money the rings may fetch may not even go *that far* to help your daughter out with her studies

= You may get a nice night or two - out - with the money you get =

I feel that knowing that your daughter will probably sell them eventually -
& if they are not overly cherished by any of the family
you could just make enquiries
It is a nice thought that such items could go on to be with someone who loves them
But sometimes they get melted down - and they no longer as your mum knew them

Gok is on a new show right now - recorded earlier today [ from ITV ]
I have just started watching it and
....... I think each person gets the same box of food to create a winning meal

Sound good ??
twassington
29-03-2016
I thought Gok designed clothes?

Indeed, I have no idea what they are worth. Possibly not a great deal. In which case they would not help out much with the expenses. And mum used to worry all the time about losing them, although she never did. It would be odd to find out they weren't worth a lot at all. Maybe I will get them valued just to find out.

Ever been to York?
silentNate
29-03-2016
Yeah.

That sounds like the show 'Can't Cook, Won't Cook', Carole!

How cool is Ainsley Harriott??

Who is your favourite TV chef?
tanstaafl
29-03-2016

Have you ever got a TV recipe to actually work properly?
twassington
29-03-2016
Yes, many times.

What are you doing wrong???
silentNate
29-03-2016
Don't ask me... I point to a picture and say, 'that looks nice'... then my wife brings it to me

Jealous??
twassington
29-03-2016
No because I love cooking!

My dinner was LUSH! Just scoffed it. Now for the rest of the marmite egg!
