I once went to Ascot with a friend who was a Fleet Street sports writer. He had a press pass + 1. At the time I was young and lacking in funds so went in a pair of plastic shoes and a borrowed straw hat.

I saw the lizard car from a distance and we both gave it two fingers.

What's the most you've won on the gee gees? I did £50 once on the Grand National back in the days when ex Mr Twass went every year and put some dosh on everyone's horse, me, the kids, himself etc. Can't remember the name of the horse and I have never actually watched the race as I hate to see the horses fall Made good use of the £50 though

Not that keen on fizzy wine. Rather have a nice chilled still rose.

Fancy some Victoria Sponge with raspberry jam filling?

It would certainly be warmer. *dishes out Victoria Sponge* Quite pleased with this one considering I literally threw it together in 5 mins and slung in the oven. Very moist and light

How am I going to resist scoffing a second slice?

Always Yorkshire tea. A strong flavoursome brew

I've got done all I had planned to do and more....but there is still plenty of work to do in the garden tomorrow.

Worn out now....may have an earlyish night.....do you ever turn in before 11?

I always feel as if Lurpak is top of the ladder - for me
not that I always buy it / I will try all different ones / especially If they are selling at bargain prices
I bought some Lurpak today -
but the previous 4 x 500g tubs I bought were Utterly Butterly - & they were all only 25p each -
and ...... the 1kg tubs before those - were also Utterly Butterly and I paid just 9p and I got 2 of them .
I have bought County Life before and Kerry gold and Cornish butters etc etc

If I don't buy any buttery spreads - I can easily go many months without using any

Would / or do you sometimes choose to go without using any buttery spreads - for a while ??

Not often enough. I really should dig out the air fryer since those chips are lovely. But like all gadgets, it's put away between uses and I forget about it

Real butter all the way! No imitation butters I'm a butter purist and I eats it every day!

Lidl's own is very like Lurpak in flavour, their one in the silver foil wrap [clearly a copy of the Lurpak wrap] and half the price at 88p a pack.

How do they do it for that price?
