Not particularly. It's available in a variety of other outlets these days.

Would you board a plane with a suitcase full of sausage & fruit pudding?

Only if I was The Sleeper orf on his holibobs

Thank you for the clear info regards toxic masculinity Nate. I guess it is same for women in terms of the expectations of a society.

Tans, your pb comment made me larf. My maiden name was Brooks....and at school I remembered the chemical element for lead by the ditty "Pa Brooks is as heavy as lead". Not sure my father would have approved

How did you remember things like the periodic table or formulae?

Purely because my brain was unfossilized in bygone years. Once upon a time I could rattle off the names of all the capital cities in South America. Nowadays I'd be hard pressed to remember whether South America is still part of Gondwanaland, or not.

With the periodic table well on its way to element number 120, do you feel sorry for present-day students?

Yus...chemistry was simpler in my day.....buy so we're a lot of things. Got paid in cash, didn't have a bank account cors didn't have the need for one,. Never got into debt cors couldn't spend wot you didn't have. Didna have to worry about crooks accessing bank account and stealing yer money, didn't have to worry about disposal of personal info cors
that got burnt on the open fire, plus nobody had too many letters wot required disposal anyways......I could go on, but I 'll spare you

Looking forward to the Chilcot report?

Well yes and no is the answer to that. I hope justice will be served on those who forced this country into a war it didn't want and has caused no end of harm, but that won't bring lives back, or lost limbs back.

I remember my first proper weekly wage packet, a brown envelope with the cash in it. £21 and a few pence as I recall for a 40 hour week. Sounds like slave labour doesn't it??

Yus..............but if you remember that 50p is the equivalent of yesterday's 10 shilling note,
and 10 shillings went a long way back then...no,it sounds about right

Me kids were reminiscing about how many chews you could get for a penny back way when........do you ever reminisce about the same
twassington
06-07-2016
I do. And I can remember getting two Black Jacks for a ha'penny old money as a small child

You can still get sweetie bargains. A tube of fruit Mentos in a newsagent's is about 50p. I can get five tubes for a quid in Home Bargains

I still buy penny sweets for the grandkids, do you look for bargains? [Yes I eats them as well. I confess ]

I'm always looking for bargains

Ever ridden a horse??
twassington
06-07-2016
I did in my early twenties, a very big white horse, It was fabulous but I was a bit aware of how far it was to the ground. Only ever that one time but loved it.

Ever ridden on an Elephant?
silentNate
06-07-2016
No. I've only driven donkeys, horses and people up the wall!

Would you take a job that included night shifts??
twassington
06-07-2016
Yes if I needed the money, but I am not a night person and I know I would struggle. I never had any problem being at my desk before 8am when I worked for the council. Only night work I have done was as a poll clerk and on the counting staff for elections. Coffee and Red Bull kept me up for those!

So the Chilcott report basically confirms what we knew all along, right?
silentNate
06-07-2016
Pretty much. I'm not sure anyone will be convicted however and there would be a long list of names should legitimate action take place.

Do you have filing cabinets in your home??
twassington
06-07-2016

silentNate
06-07-2016

twassington
