You southerners are odd people

I have no recollection of doing so but I still have my parents old toasting fork so might have to try it in front of my lovely new stove fire when I move

How many slices of toast do you have at a time?

Well, the loaves I get are very small so usually three or four

Toast made the slow way is fabulous. It does take patience though. It was my job as a child to kneel on the hearth holding a slab of toast on the end of a fork, or a crumpet, to the flames of a coal open fire. Mum would sit in the armchair with a tray on which was butter, plates and jam waiting for the toasted goods

Crumpets must be buttered hot, so the liquid butter can collect in the holes and quite possibly run down your hand and up your sleeves

Does that happen to you?

No, and I won't ever have it. From what I hear it's more trouble than it's worth, I'll take me chances....

I don't like reality TV, but I suppose if I had to choose it would be IACGMOOH. Not that I have watched any of the current series.

Have you?
