Indeed hoots. I've a friend with so many medical issues and the docs don't seem to know what to do now. I've just suggested she tries magnesium oil. Just hope it might help!!

Have you had much milder temperatures today?

Carrot sticks apparently! Healthier than fries

How many parents lie to the kids and say the shop ran out of fries and made carrot sticks instead?

Dunno... does your life revolve around the kids from the moment they are born??

No wonder the families of young children I know look so exhausted

These days it does appear so. My eldest is permanently knackered and always driving them to yet another activity. I never did any of that stuff. Mine played outside and entertained themselves most of the time. It does the kids no favours to let them think the world revolves around them. A hard lesson will be learned at some point no doubt.

Don't you think kids should learn to entertain themselves rather than be entertained all the time?

I agree.

Should kids be encouraged to take up sport?

If they are interested in it, yes. If not, let them run around outdoors doing whatever they like!

I never liked sport but spent the majority of my childhood including the winters outdoors playing imaginary games. Didn't you?

I did exactly the same and we all played outside happily.

Do you wish it was safer for kids?

I'm not sure it was any safer when we were children, it's simply that perceptions have changed. I'm sure there are no more paedophiles or child snatchers now than back then, proportionally with the population. Parents were just not as aware.

I'm so glad I grew up when I did! Agreed?

So am I, we were all more innocent then, children have to be educated in who to speak to and who to avoid and we didn't have that worry- rightly or wrongly, who knows?.

Did you ever go away to relatives for holidays in summer?

Yes, my Granddad had a small chalet home in Ferring on the South coast, where my cousin and I would be sent in the holidays to spend days on the beach on our own and do errands for Granddad. There was a horse in a paddock close by who we'd feed ends of carrots and apple cores to. He had brushed nylon sheets which after dark created fireworks shows in our beds

Do you remember your childhood well?

Very well. I used to go to my Aunt's in the summer holidays in London at Regents Park, it was a lovely exciting area with the park and the canal and the markets, museums etc., so different from Scotland. I loved it and I went off to work in London when I was Eighteen.

Do you think you ever tire of London?

I don't like it at all However, fun things happen in London so I am often there. Not keen on it though!

Apart from Covent Garden and Camden. They're OK.

Which part of London is your favourite?

I have a few, but Regent's Park area for the happy memories of childhood, Camden Town (though its' changed a lot) Kensington for the Museums and Soho for exploring little Italian and Chinese places (haven't been back for a few years)

Do you prefer the countryside? (I have lived in the countryside for years now, but like to be a drive away from big cities)

I much prefer the countryside. As remote as possible. Villages and small towns are OK but not cities

Do you ever not speak to another soul for a whole day or more?

Not in London!!

twass (,21:30) Shoot! I'm pretty sure there were more peadophiles around when I was growing up in the 1970's, in fact looking back I'm ashamed at the 'laddism' of the 1990's. I'd rather have grown up during either period though as there seemed to be a real optimism about things being changed. These days everything feels like a step back

Whiskey or brandy??

I think they both have similar entertainment levels

It's weirdly mild this morning....not that I'm complaining.....went to put the big dressing gown on but not needed

Do you own a dressing gown? Mine is huge, fluffy and purple

I do indeed. I even gave it a wash the other week. The only problem now is that I have to hang it up as it won't stand up on its own.

Do you feel embarrassed answering the front door at, say, 10 am whilst wearing a dressing gown?
