Yes, any money off is well worth having. All the food I got today was either BOGOF or buy 2 get the third free, so the charity's money went quite a long way

My (oldest) daughter put her xmas tree up Saturday and all her decs too. My youngest daughter is putting hers up tonight and has bought a train track to circle bottom of the tree. Crazy pair.

I won't put mine up until at least 7-10 days into December, I think November is too early but so many seem to be doing it now ... well according to fb that is.

Why do atheists celebrate Christmas??

I celebrate Yule, the solstice. I do bring in greenery and I have a tree but the 25th Dec is just a day, son and DIL celebrate it and I will be with them on that day so I just go with the flow. They are as christian as I am. It's all about Santy and the presents

Nate - it is more about the materialistic ott celebration than religion these days, well that's how I see it. Each to their own and I would happily not get sucked into it all but the kids (who are all now adults) love it, so I go along with it too.

I was raised a Catholic but I decided not to pass that on to my kids, leaving them to choose a faith or none at all. They, like the majority these days, don't think of Christmas as a religious celebration. Whether that is down to me not introducing them to religion or just a sign of the times I don't know.

Yes, it's not as wild. Mine too were left by me to make their own choices. They were quite heavily indoctrinated at primary school and were confirmed there but I always said they should make their own choices and ultimately I have two atheists and one who thinks rather like myself. The church school was the nearest to our house which is why they went there!! To be fair it was also a very good school.

Did you attend church or secular school?

Both I preferred the secular though. Loved that school!
