Unanimous dance-off votes
davads

Just watched last night's results. Anybody else think it must be a bit of a sickener for a celeb to be voted off in a unanimous judging call?

I know it's a competition and should be judged honestly, but surely the odd judge could say the other person just to cushion the blow a bit Would make Len's vote a bit more suspenseful too.

Well I liked the old-fashioned way. The judges had their say. The public had theirs. The combined results were totted up and the loser was eliminated. No dance-off to (potentially) fiddle with the result needed.

If they must have a dance-off, then I think the judges should assess it honestly but if it's a split panel then either go back to the public vote or use the studio audience.

Dance-off creates more drama in a result show. And I don't think judges should sugarcoat it for the celebs.

The judges should just save the name they want to save, and if that makes it a unanimous call, then so be it.

If one of them opts for the other person and slings them a pity-vote (which is what it is) they can't guarantee Len (the casting vote) won't save them as well, and then they've got a case where they've just sent through the person they wanted to see go home because they felt kind of sorry for them.

Although yes, I'd rather they just went back to the 50/50 judges-public split, and no dance-off. Oddly enough, the two most recent series where they used that system (series 8 and 9), everyone went out in more or less the right order (give or take a Jimi Mistry or an Ann Widdecombe, who would've made it that far either way).

No, it would be sickly if one of the judges doled out a sympathy vote when a couple's dance was clearly shit.

They're not five year olds who would crumble on receiving accurate feedback
