You mean you didn't want to see Anton rip off his shirt and gyrate on a pool table?
Actually, he's good at running in circles, they could have used that

It's not like Anton could have done anything else.
Just seeing Anton do casual - losing the shirt and tie and looking less like he's going for an interview, was excitement enough!

This week's pro dance was dire, so lovely to be reminded here of a couple of the fantastic dances we've had in the past. It makes me wish that we could have a few more like that now.

Over the last few years I have learned to have very low expectations of the group dances, although I do always hope that I'll be pleasantly surprised. But I thought this weeks was a new low. What is wrong with actually having some high quality latin or ballroom dancing on what is ostensibly a latin and ballroom dancing show? Or at least something that demonstrates a connection between partners. This was a complete waste of all of their talents - any reasonably competent dancer could jig about a bit, run around a table, roll across said table and wave some plates and pool cues about. A couple of them did seem to be somewhat embarrassed by it all, which is unsurprising.
Ditto. Pro Group dances have been very disappointing of late, this week was no exception. Just what exactly was Anton doing through the whole routine? I get the Saturday night entertainment thing and producing something visually engaging but this just didn't look very good. Am I right in thinking that Matthew Cutler and possibly Ian Waite used to choreograph some of the group dances, when they were reasonably good to watch?

back in the good old days all the pros used to take a turn, it would be a different pro couple each week who would choreograph and group pro dances and yes, they were amazing - 2 examples have been posted on the previous page

It was cr*p! Utter cr*p.

Even SYTYCD came up with better routines from memory (though feel free to link me any that were actually worse than this). Does this choreogrpaher have any latin or ballroom background and, if not, how many more dire routines are we going to get from him. The one from last week (for movie week which he also came up with) was just about tolerable, but this was just....well, you know what I think. Please do NOT hire him for Blackpool week BBC, we need proper beautiful ballroom numbers gracing that floor, not some modern contemporary sh*t.

What happened to the days when Pros used to choreograph routines, or when we'd see routines that had been done by the extra help of those with more evident experience from the ballroom world. Are they really going so far down this commerical dance route that we have choreogrpahers coming up with that for Ballroom/latin dancers that are better than that.

I hated the outfits, they reminded me of everything I didn't like about the 80s whilst still not actually looking like a real 80s outfit, and I didn't see much dancing.

I think it is a complete waste to have ballroom dancers doing formation dances since they are not particularly good formation dancers.

Is it me or do they not even do recognisable ballroom or latin dances anymore? It's just lots of running about and playing with props.

Totally agree - we might get a few steps of latin if we're very lucky... any ballroom steps are rarer still I suppose because they're harder to integrate with the mish mash of styles that usually comprise the pro dances.

Tissy, thank you. Not seen this in years, but still love it! A true, unabashed jive Also what a pro dream team: Karen, Camilla, Nicole, Lilia, Ola, Flavia, Matthew, Ian, James, Brendan, Vincent, Darren... the glory days indeed.

I also hated the pro routine this weekend. "Trayography" is exactly the kind of crap the judges tell the pros off for doing with their celebs, to try and hide a lack of dance skill. Why the hell is it acceptable for our pros to told to do it by a hip-hop chorerographer?

SCD needs to stop trying to be BTF on TV. Let's get back to the pros taking it in turns to choreoraph the group dance, having more choice in their music each week, and also choreographing their own dances with their celeb partner (exceptions like AT aside). Also, themes not so heavily needed each week (ie outside movie & Halloween weeks) - let each dance be a dance, not a West End production.

*tucks soapbox away* Sorry - needed that off my chest!

Awful. The pro dances are hugely disappointing nowadays. They used to be my favourite part of the show, now I mostly cringe all the way through them.

This week's wasn't as dire as Mary Berry popping out of a cake at the world's weirdest stag do, but it wasn't much better.
That's a picture I did not need in my head, tonight's sleep ruined

I agree it was'nt very good at all. My daughter and I were saying just that this morning. A lot of faffing around no real dancing and terrible costumes and what could'nt really be called routines at all. What a disappointment.

AWFUL!

A total mess, and the worst pro dance that I have seen since I started watching Strictly.
I agree. I thought it was choreographed by that moronic-sounding American guy who did the outdoors one with the Cliftons and Tristan - Christopher something - but Natalie tweeted that the pool table crap number was choreographed by Karen Bruce.

(Natalie didn't use the word "crap" by the way)
