I used to love them now they're just awful, much too Hot Gossip with a bit of Legs & Co thrown in for good measure.

No idea why they stopped doing the Ballroom/Latin based dances that they used to, they really were the hightlight of the results show, now they are just disappointing

The pros need to do the choreography like they used to. Its a ballroom and Latin competition I would like to see how it should be done. fast flat out ballroom routines. The pro dances were always my favourite part of the show and one of the main reasons I tuned in every week. Watching some of the pro dances on Dancing with the stars ours don't even compare. The DWTS dances are so exciting and show off the pros.

It's one of the worst I can remember. Liked the song, liked the costumes, but hated the choreography and huge props. One of the main reason for watching the results show was the pro dance. These days it's very hit and miss. It just has to be down to the pro doing the choreography.

It's like the BBC suddenly realised that they've accidentally made a popular program about latin and ballroom dancing and then got really embarrassed about it. Baffling.

Ha ha! It's such a shame because they have amazing ballroom and Latin dancers who I'm guessing would much prefer having the chance to show off what they can actually do rather than be lumbered with a prop-packed mess of a routine. It's what the majority of us want too, judging by the general feeling of this thread (I know some disagree though). What self-righteous idiot at the BBC isn't listening? The pro dances were always one of the highlights each week for me. Not this time and I love the pros.

just a few of the gorgeous pro dances we USED to get

<snip>

https://youtu.be/5n_GY3GO_T4?list=PL708936A159832587 < seriously hot!

<snip>

I could go on - but I wont
i particularly like the one above. I do miss the departed pros in that one, I really do

I really thought this week's dance was awfully choreographed and arranged. The shifting between the two songs was very clumsy and the stuff on the pool table and with the trays was rubbish. I though we were going to get an 80s medley and we got just two songs. The costumes weren't much cop either.

from Natalies twitter

https://twitter.com/RealNatalieLowe/...55102822854656

looks more like an exercise class than a pro dance
I agree. I thought it was choreographed by that moronic-sounding American guy who did the outdoors one with the Cliftons and Tristan - Christopher something - but Natalie tweeted that the pool table crap number was choreographed by Karen Bruce.

(Natalie didn't use the word "crap" by the way)
Oh no, she's doing this week's too.

I have started doing something I thought was sacrilegistic , I tape it and FF I only watch the dance and the Claudia bits.

I know a lot of people don't like James Jordan, but in my mind, Craig made sure he didn't get his contract renewed, as well as James being a bit gobby, know he is starting on Ola. That is only my opinion please don't don't shoot me lol

I thought the singing on the pro dance was horrific as well.

I was trying to remember where I had seen all that faffing about with trays.

It turns out I've seen something similar at the resort I stayed this summer on my holidays, the evening adult entertainment was a "Latin Show", ie, some girls dancing to "Tequila" holding trays.

I think they even talked with him about the dance, ITT most likely. Maybe Karen Bruce is doing this week's pro dance?

I was quoting somebody else's post - not Natalie's twitter directly - and I think you're right! Karen Bruce is doing next week's and didn't do that pool-table monstrosity. They should NEVER use Christopher again, if he's responsible for that dreck.

Yikes! He's said he's doing several pro dances for this series so there's more to come! Let's hope most of the blame lies on Christopher. Or do you mean Neil assisted with the one that had the outdoors filming of the Cliftons + Tristan that they interviewed Christopher for -- or did Neil assist with the most recent one - the pool table mess? (or both?)

I'm getting all my pro numbers mixed up!

It was definitely Christopher Whatshisface doing this one. They showed the pros practicing it on ITT, complaining it was hard not to drop the prop and they talked to the choreographer, too. Actually https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OsRzQuARWDE

I was impressed by the running into and out of the film.

My guess is that they had a fine mesh screen in front of a film screen and when they ran behind the mesh screen, it seemed like they had run into the film screen.
Then they switched to another camera filming the dancers outside an area of the screen where they superimposed the recorded film.

Clever!

It was, it was filmed last August ( it featured Jo) - I too thought it very clever.

I didn't see it on Sunday but I've just went on iPlayer. I think the choreographer has been watching the video for Please Stay by Kylie. Watch from 2 minutes in.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3-BqLVzbikM

I was talking about the Sunday Results show dance.

I really liked Pompeii from 2014.

That seemed to be a good compromise between modern techniques with video screens and actuall ballroom and Latin dancing.

It's one of my faves anyway.
