I've been pondering this for a bit, because most of Emmerdale is absolute bobbins at the moment. I don't much care who shot Lord Robert, I'm bored of Angry Eric, Aaron puts me in a coma, Finn in a dress is beyond cringe, Jai's coke story makes me want to eat my own brain with a spoon, and if Ross and Pete keep fighting I swear I will have to kill them both myself. And Debbie. So why am I watching, except habit?

I think the only things I really like are:

Finding out about Lawrence, and where he's going with Bernice.
The Vanessa's baby storyline, and the impact on Kirin/Rakesh/Adam has got better.
I'd like to know what'll happen with Megan, if she ever appears again.
Oh, and Kerry, for the laughs.

That's it. What does anyone else like at the moment? Am I being unfair/grumpy/utterly cantankerous? (Maybe don't answer that last bit).

Because it's on when I'm having my tea, it's become a habit. But there are some storylines I'm enjoying, I was looking forward to the rest of "Who Shot Robert" but the leak and the person who was the shooter made the storyline laughable.

I suppose I'm watching because it's not in a "dire" situation for me yet, but not it top form either. Might as well stick around to see if it improves. Corrie on the other hand...I'd rather sit staring at a toilet for half an hour.

Corrie has become really boring I must admit. I don't know how much longer I'll be able to keep watching before I give up on it.

I love Emmerdale. I've been watching it for years and still really enjoy watching it. It's not perfect, but nothing is.

I like more storylines than I dislike and I like more characters than I dislike. The things I like outweigh the things I don't.

Something's are a bit repetitive and boring (like the Ross/Debbie/Pete rubbish) but I still think overall it's really good.

Agree with this post 100%. I'd would've stopped watching Corrie if it wasn't for the fact that KO is taking over.

Well I'm still watching Corrie and that's so much worse than ED so no reason why I'd switch off ED.

I think the Whites have been a great addition and I like most things involving Lawrence, Chrissie and Lockhimuplan. I think there could be some good interaction between them and Charity when she returns because she's bound to be looking for a rich new man to keep her in the style to which she wants to become reaccustomed. So if Bernice is still with Larry by then, she'd better be prepared for a fight.

I also love Kerry, but she's far too sparky for desperately dull Dan and I want to see her find a new man who she's more suited to.

I also like Paddy and Rhona, so I think the new Nicola Stephenson character could prove interesting. I like to watch Megan too, also Pete and Dross, Belle, Nessa and Kirin and of course the lovely Yellow M&M, Rishi. Plus Nikhil coming back is a massive bonus for me.

Last but certainly not least, I can happily sit and stare at the gorgeous Cain all night long, and would therefore still watch if the entire cast except him was dispensed with.

So overall, I actually enjoy watching most of the characters, I'm just very very disappointed with the current writing and execution of the sls.

I think Kate's done some great things for ED (like bringing Robert back and pairing him with Aaron... )

I hope ED continues to do well (hopefully it get's even better) when the new guy's brought in and that Kate will turn things around with Corrie (I mean it can't get any worse )

Can't forget the amazing Robron I'm looking forward to Kate coming to Corrie, she managed to save ED from the hat, she can do it again.

I'm hoping Mr Hollyoaks (forgot his name) does good things with the show. Hopefully he won't bring concepts from Hollyoaks into Emmerdale.

Michael Parr!

Honestly, he's a superb actor! The best in soaps.

Even when he's in the background of a scene you can't help but get drawn to see what he's doing!

Ross is just brilliant. Even when he only has a small scene with Finn it just improves the episode.

His return can't come quick enough. I'm not to bothered with Pete vs Ross at the moment, but I hope it'll come to a decent ending.

It's a shame about what's happening with Ross though.... you'll know what I mean if you've seen what I'm talking about.

Agreed! In spite of some of the daft plots he has been given.

I am also looking forward to Nikhil's return; my favourite Sharma, by far.

And that is only when Aaron is on the screen.
I actually find the show the most enjoyable Soap to watch. Even amongst some of the poor storylines there is always somethng of interest and most of the actors are excellent considering the amount of work they have to put in for 6 episodes a week.
Have enjoyed the Robert Whodunnit and looking forward to the big Chas and Aaron storyline as well as the other twists in the Rewind episode and the return of Nikhil and I will miss Kate Oates when she is gone even if she does seem to want to shoehorn Ross Barton into every single storyline.

Because it's entertaining, well acted, gripping, funny and good escapism.

Also it's the best soap on TV

I think the show has its down times and it seems to be whenever the B list characters are front burner like the Sharmas, Vanessa, Megan, ect. Now what is keeping me watching is the Andy/Robert feud, Aaron and his dramas and the impending break up of Bob and Wendy.

Nikhil! Almost forgot about him. Good call.

And yes, Cain. Always Cain. I think the "family first" stuff is getting a bit dull, tnh, I wish he'd break out some time and tell them they're all idiots. But hey ho, sometimes I don't even listen to what Cain says, I just bask in his presence.

Because its such a gripping, tight viewing experience.
Finn in a dress? Jai pretending to be coked up? It really isn't.

Can't actually remember the last time I was gripped. Oo,I can, it was when Andy found out Robert killed Katie. But then Robert got shot and I joined him in a coma.

Some good answers though. I'm probably just a bit out of step these days, can't stand "Robron" or Aaron, find Ross increasingly tedious (good actor though).

I'll stick to admiring Cain and laughing at Kerry.

Emmerdale is much more enjoyable than Corrie at the moment.

Robron were great and I'm enjoying the who shot Robert? storyline (I've managed to avoid spoilers so far). Jai's cocaine storyline is annoying, but I hope he gets a proper comeuppance soon and of course lovely Nikhil is back soon!

The only things I'm not liking so much is the stupid comedy bet thing with Finn (although that hopefully has finished now) - I wish they'd give him a proper storyline like they have with the rest of the Bartons. And of course any scene with Marlon in .
