DAVID

ALEX VARGAS

ELLIE GOULDING

Coming up:

Spoiler
The other half of Lavid returns from the grave since it's almost Halloween and delivers a gay icon and some people from Iceland.

Love that Ellie Goulding is back but can't believe there's not more build up to her magnum opus :'(

LUCAS

LADY GAGA
I have chosen this because it represents that she can deliver vocally with her music when she wants too. Gaga doesn't have a set definition as an artist as she's a pop, rock, country and jazz goddess and delivers in all of those genres constantly. She's no one trick pony.

OF MONSTERS AND MEN
Of Monsters and Men always deliver epic performances with their folk sound, some find the genre frankly dull but they have the intriguing vocals and epic instrumentals to their sound in order to stand out and actually cater to a wider demographic and I hope this is one they do cater to because this is the act I've had most faith in delivering me a strong placing since friendly fires

Coming up:

Spoiler
The person who took Louise's first choice act is finally e x p o s e d.

DANDEM

Saint Raymond

Song - "Bonfires"

I feel that this song best represents Saint Raymond as it encompasses both elements of indie and mainstream pop which can both be heard at various points through his discography. The guitar also features quite noticeably and the song was penned by the man himself.

Hayley Williams

Song - "Proof"

This song epitomizes everything Hayley does. Badass vocals combined with fun, energetic pop punk with a ridiculously catchy chorus.

Stacey writes a love letter to the country genre will you co-sign???

Hi sorry my battery died and took like an hour to turn back on, ANYWAY

Firstly, waaay back in the first series of NTA (I think), 30STM were disgusting to me. I always ranked them in my bottom 3 and was like "ew, gtfo" when they beat Hot Chelle Rae who were ultimate babes to my 21 year old self. HOWEVER, in November 2013, I went along to a 30STM concert with a friend who loved them so much she bought my ticket and I was like "k". And oh my actual God. Absolute sex gods who absolutely owned everything in life that night. We all know Jared Leto is hot, obviously. But to know how hot he really is you need to see him live. See. Him. Live. So now, 4 years on, I love 30STM and I hope you do to.

I chose First Aid Kit because they're cute girls with amazing voices and great music. And also because I didn't get my act I wanted first. Who I used ages ago in DSSC and have tickets to his concert next mint but no biggie.

Both of Dandem's acts are just <3, Saint Raymond being a home Nottingham boy as well, Nottingham Represented!

Seriously Dan. If I wasn't on mobile I'd be using the appropriate GIF to illustrate how much I dislike you right now.

Hope you enjoy his tour next month which I assume you're going to!!!!

Lol if Dan isn't at every show for the next 12 years i assume you're ordering a hit on him.

Kyla La Grange - Heavy Stone
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Htnt2ssAOo

Spoiler
Kyla was tragically cut on one of the most shocking nights of NTA in series 7 - having become a fan more since the show I'm glad to get the chance to show more of her awesomeness. Heavy Stone is a more stripped back song of hers but encapsulates her beautiful voice and talent - and gives a taste of what's to (hopefully) come!

Years and Years - Memo
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eolPN4j3npQ

Spoiler
My new act for this year is Years and Years - one of the big successes of 2015 and one I'm excited to mentor. I've chosen one of their slower songs in Memo for week 1 to really show Olly's incredible voice which I hope you enjoy!

ALSO I was very unprofessional and forgot Aliyah sent me this which she typed up on her phone while assisting refugees oops sorry Aliyah but at least you have an OTTP ep 1:

Quote:
“INTRODUCTION:

The new act I have picked are one I have been a fan of for an absolute age (for about 6 years precisely) and very recently the band had their first top 5 hit in the UK and have become a bit more well known! I wanted to take this band under my wing to showcase their earlier material aswell as their excellent new sound. It's the only and only...WALK THE MOON.

The old NTA act I've picked is also a band I have been a fan of since I was in school! (no joke), I've seen the band release their early bubblegum pop/rock material and grow into a great pop/rock band, they very recently merged with another one of my previous favorite bands, and i'm hoping to surprise people in the competition as their songs are pretty great! It's the one and only...MCFLY!

Why this song represents for Mcfly:
I love Mcfly and Busted separately and grew up with their music, seeing a mature combined version of the bands is serious musical heaven! Their sound is more modern but still consist of the slick guitar pop/rock vibes and catchy melodies.

Walk The Moon - Avalanche
Walk the Moon are a great feel-good band, their sound consists of infectious indie-pop and dance-rock beats with a great 80's pop dimension. "Avalanche" showcases this side aswell as lead vocalist Nicholas Petricca excellent tone and falsetto!”

Katy B - http://cdn4.pitchfork.com/features/9075/fd795887.jpg

Yup this gorgeous and talented Mercury-prize nominated lass from Peckham is back with a bang! I always loved Katy B but even more so after the release of her latest album, Little Red. There’s a huge difference between the Katy B of 3 years ago and the Katy B of now. She's still that amazing urban dance pop Queen we all adore but her sound has evolved into something more mature and adult contemporary. The whole album is inspired by late 90s R&B and electronic music. The production has become amazingly crisp clean and futuristic almost. She’s also become more emotionally mature with the kinds of subject matter she addresses in her songs like being in depression or being in unrequited love. What I’ve always loved the most about her though is her passion and emotion which is really emphasised in the album - her sultry voice is as euphoric and as captivating as ever. She also looks absolutely stunning and gorgeous as ever (just like her music <3). Her new album Little Red is full of amazing hidden gems (chosen from around 50 which didn't make the cut) which will completely and utterly en-trance/mesmerize you. Katy B is back better than ever and you guys best be watching out for her <3

Ella Eyre - http://img2.hungertv.com/wp-content/.../Ella-eyre.png

After 2 years and 5 album delays, finally my favorite Landan bae Ella Eyre (even more than you Aliyah <3) is NTA-usable! Her style combines contemporary dance pop with soul, jazz, reggae and ska which gives her music this really interesting cool urban edge to it. A classically trained vocalist too - she has incredible control and range. Her album Feline demonstrates her versatility - ranging from heart-wrenching soulful ballads to the catchiest dance songs, her flawless and pitch perfect vocal ability, her breathtaking passion and emotion, and most of all her incredible song writing ability creating these addictive tunes which y'all no doubt be humming to every week. Her album also shows off some really neat production with a beautiful orchestra and clean synths which combine flawlessly and beautifully with Ella's voice. Going to show you Ella in ways you never thought imaginable and then some - my bae be dominating this!

Songs:
Katy B - 5AM
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VDE2OMZtExY
Note: I think this song best illustrates the difference between Katy B 3 years ago and the Katy B now. You can hear her sound has matured with a more crystal clean and futuristic production. I think 5AM best encapsulates everything amazing about this gorgeous woman - her catchy arrangements, her breathtaking emotion, her flawlessly beautiful voice, her euphoric and entrancing song-writing and lyrics, the seductive and sultry mood of her music.

Ella Eyre - Together
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eK5mH9oF7T4
Note: I think Together in particular demonstrates all of Ella's fantastic qualities - her strong vocals, her amazing dance/soul/pop infused style, her ska/reggae musical influences, her catchy feel-good arrangements and her gloriously gorgeous hair <3.

JAKK

Lissie: Sleepwalking https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1R5h_6fdv1c

Intro: I think that in Lissie's series of NTA she got quite unlucky with the fact that A) it was a really strong series and B) her best song got used week 1 (sorry Louise!). I decided to bring her back as Lissie has a plethora of awesome songs that need to listened to in NTA. That and her acoustic numbers are just <3 <3

LP: Night Like This https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2yOTfs0s3f4

Intro: I just love LP's artistry and her vocals are simply out of this world, I mean when she hits the high notes in some of her songs its just magical. She's even written for multiple artists like Ella Henderson (shoutout to Justin's past NTA act), Cher Lloyd (shoutout to Stacey's past NTA act) and many others as well. I brought her here to introduce her wonderful songs to the NTA world and hope y'all like her as much as I do

***********************

That is everyone! BUT PLEASE WAIT till I post the song list before voting, as the voting system has changed drastically and I don't want you to be yelled at for doing it wrong.

That's okay Jakk, delighted to see an NTA player with a better record than me having a go with one of my old acts. I always use good songs in week one ever since I got eliminated first with Elton John, absolutely scarred for life </3

6 things I've learned from tonight:

1. I've made an enemy out of Louise for picking Saint Raymond

2. Pingu has made an enemy out of me for picking CHVRCHES

3. Rory is a superstar for picking Kyla

4. A final 3 of Hayley, Kyla and CHVRCHES in their respective category is possible and would basically be the best thing ever

5. Considering how "indie" or "alternative" NTA often is, there are A LOT of mainstream acts this year. Which isn't a bad thing.

6. I am now the NTA villain. I am Blofeld. I am Mojo Jojo. I am The Riddler. I am Lord Voldemort. All combined into 1.
