I do like Angus Deayton normally, but last night he looked and sounded bored out of his skull - not to mention embarrased to be standing there.

And how totally innappropriate was his 'is the Pope a Catholic? Oh, maybe not' comment? It wasn't even funny.

I like him. Perhaps you're just too PC?

I like him too - and I'm far from PC, but it wasn't a funny joke and he risked offending people, which was a bit pointless.

If you like him why do you call him "boring pointless and rude"??

I thought last series he was, to be frank, crap. These last two shows though, he has looked almost interested!

It's about time some people were offended. It's all too PC these days. Can't pls 'em all.

Couldn't agree more Shelley. He made a quip, some didn't like it, others did. That's life, isn't it?

I guess people will be up in arms about Angus' "More smoke than the Vatican Chimney" comment now.

He totally makes the show. His jokes are brilliant. His cynisism is a brilliant counterpoint to the self-obsessed contestants.

He's funny.. end of story.

People that have a go are just jealous.

It''s so nice, and so rare, that there is a bit of true life on TV instead of all this PC, scripted, perfect-world rubbish. Angus' style is almost like comments one of your friends would make. I can hear things he says being said in homes across the UK. True Reality for once!

Let's not forget close-up of Timmy Mallet. Cue Angus: "And now let's look at some Celebrities". LOL

Agreed. He seemed far more interested in how Henry felt about his time in the kitchen than any of last year's celeb contestants.

In Hell's Kitchen, that's what he appears to be, in my opinion

Well after yesterday's election there is scope for a pun on Eggs Benedict too.

I find Angus Deaton SO boring. His 'jokes' are such groaners, they could come out of a cracker. He has one style and one style only. I have this thoery that presenters go to a special school to learn the presenting song - that is the same tune they sing when talking, the same punctuation and accentuation on certain words.

I know what I mean! Blue Peter presenters, those property ladder people all do the same song.

And yes, he does look embarrassed and sounds bored because he knows he hasnt go the choice these days in presenting and has to take what he can.

Give it up Angus. Your crap.

Good afternoon to you all.

Yes ok the programmes not bad, however I think Angus fits the bill perfectly.

Not sure who his writer is, however they need a pat on the back. What with the dry wit that Angus delivers, I look forward to watching.

I know there are standards to be maintained, however HIGNFY is a poorer programme without him. I can see why some people interpret his repertoir as perhaps smug, however I think he is perfect at what is expected of him.

His manarisms, his posture and his entire ' confused dry gaze ' into the camera, makes me laugh everytime.

I don't think he looks bored at all. To me it is just part of his presenting style, which is sarcastic, totally appopriate for this type of programme.

Regards James

Now you have four, although he doesn't make me laugh out loud, I do enjoy a wry grin and tend to agree with most of his (or rather his writer's) assessments.

It's his aloof, above such nonsense, at least they're paying me for this, critical outlook that makes him so funny.

"Timmy Mallet, probably just happy to get out of the house".

Genius.
