Three Mobile Broadband on smartphone?

Can a Three mobile broadband SIM (which is on contract) be used in a smartphone such as a Nokia Lumia then used for tethering to a laptop or tablet?

My current SIM is a standard sized SIM, so I can't test it in my phone because it only accepts a micro SIM.

My 3, 3-2-1 sim will not work in my EE unlocked Mifi device but works fine in a phone + tethering.

I have an EE PAYG broadband sim that works fine with tethering to a phone.

Going on that I would say it would work but nothing is 100% certain.

Sorry I can’t be more helpful.

I've done it with an iPad data SIM in a phone, didn't stop me. Was back in January.

Do you get a mobile signal at all? As it's an EE device it could just be that you need to update the APN settings for Three.

I seem to recall you can use a Three mobile data SIM in a phone and use it for tethering but you can't use a Three voice+data SIM in a non phone device such as mifi dongle.

I use a Three data only SIM in my 3G tablet but I cannot use a voice+data SIM in that same 3G tablet, Three immedietly send a text saying I can't use the voice+data SIM in a 3G tablet

EE 4G and 3 4G are needle bending here but I know what you’re saying and yes I can input the APN’s for any network into the ex EE device but while the 3 broadband sims work the 3-2-1 PAYG sims don’t but I’ve heard they do work in Mifi devices bought from 3.
