EE A question.

I'm not a regular viewer but did tune in last night and wondered why nobody in her immediate family is absolutely furious with Kathy? Why is Bobby so attached to her? What on earth has Paul Nicholas done to his face? I know we're not getting any younger but I've seen him in recent times on the Wright Stuff and still didn't recognise him at first last night. What is the point of Vincent? How many times are the two sisters going to fall out and make up? I don't know what the Paul Nicholas character is up to except wanting cash but how come Ben is so involved but Ian isn't, especially as he's the one expected to pay? There's a few more questions, mainly about the Carters but they seem such a tedious bunch of caracatures I don't really care.

Gavin (Paul Nicholas ) has abducted Phil and demands money for his release , Ben knows about this , Ian does not . Ben wants to free his father but also leave Walford ( and all of the bad memories) with Kathy to start over somewhere . Ian wants her to put down roots again and wants to help her with it . Ben is obviously not happy with Kathy's non commitment to the running off part of his "Free Phil" plan and lost his temper in typical Ben losing his temper way (but without spanners and frames, call it progress).

Nobody is furious with Kathy because in the interest of pursuing the (so far) ridiculous gavin storyline Kathy needs to be on speaking terms with both her sons. Ben was angry for about ten minutes and then decided he wanted to leave the square with her. Bobby is apparently attached to Kathy because by his own admission everyone seems to leave him. She is probably one of a very few people who treats him normally at the moment but that will all change now she knows he is a killer. Now she'll give him even more Cuddles, tell him everything's going to be alright twenty times a day and send him to his room the moment anything that needs to be discussed arises.
Ronnie and roxy are sick in a time loop - is the only way to explain the fact that they repeatedly fall out (over men) and then make up.
Paul Nicholas is just weird - and not in a creepy -my -character -is -supposed -to-be -weird way. I know the writers are building up to something with gavin but good grief it's so boring.
Vincent has a secret (just like everyone else on the square) and I'm hoping he's going to start to stand out and become a force to be reckoned with soon. I actually quite like his character and think he's been underused so far.

Thanks for replies everyone. It seems the show is in a bit of a mess with no clear direction at the moment. Kathy's return, in particular, seems very underwhelming. Shame, it could have been good. Just one last question, where is Phil and how did Gavin, a slight, older gentleman manage to abduct the ' hard man ' of Walford?

No one knows where Phil is, sometimes its good to have a few weeks of mystery before all is explained. Gavin had 3/4 thugs with him, I highly doubt he personally abducted him

Ben was angry with Kathy but they have reconciled. Ian accepting her comeback almost immediately makes sense considering how fragile he is at the moment.

Its been so poorly written. No one seems phased by Kathy, she's walking round the square, which you'd assume is full of people who knew her previously, yet all she gets is a surprised look and 'back from the dead' quip...

People just don't come back from the dead and have their family be okay with it over night. They buried her, and within 24 hours Ben was plotting a good old Eastenders con with her.

Thanks. Now I'm curious about how much money he wants. Hired thugs, keeping someone captive for, possibly, weeks plus personal risk must involve a hell of a lot to be worth it. Would Ian have that sort of money?

Yes, it does seem very odd.

My guess , money isn't the main motivation, it's a nice extra . He wants to get Kathy to make the choice to leave again - so he can claim that she went voluntarily . And maybe punishing Phil for breaking his toy by connecting her with her old life .
