Newbie here, though long-time Strictly watcher - I think I've got most of what's going on (I even know what DULAT means) but please could someone tell me

1. Why is Kevin a tree frog, does he just, um, look like a tree frog?
2. What happened to Trent - did he leave in a huff after he and Pixie were thrown off a cliff last year or was he just not asked back?
3. Why Jaypet?

I was curious about all that as well same as you new to partaking but not reading, been reading for ages but never bothered to join before.

Re Trent, I remember reading he didn't come back because he wanted his wife employed as one of the dancers and the Strictly bosses refused, so he didn't return. Not sure how true that is, but that's the rumour I saw.

2) the pros are only contracted for one series at a time, there was a rumour going around that Trent asked for his wife, Gordana, to be a pro too (she was a backing dancer in the last series) and the powers that be said no - whether he was offered a contract for this series and turned it down because his wife wasnt offered one or whether he just wasnt offered one, who knows!

Kevin called, by some, a tiny tree frog when he jumped from green patch to green patch to 'rescue' Susanna Reid.

Thought the description was a bit unfair really as most of the scenarios are given by the producers, but it's a long running joke on the NAT thread and can be quite funny.

Jay has been adopted, by some, as this year's 'pet' as he is a good natured person, shy and vulnerable on Strictly, good to his old Comprehensive school and charities, etc, and he can dance - though he couldn't on the Launch Show (through nerves probably).

Aha! Yes I remember that dance with Susanna. I would lol if it wasn't so passe.

I wondered if Tess had called him Jaypet, but it makes sense as a generally affectionate nickname.
