Nexus 5X Owners! Battery thoughts?
I took the plunge on a 5X and whilst I've only had it two days, so far I'm quite disappointed by the battery life - It's dropped 30% in a good coverage area with Lower-than-average use (for me) in the last 3 1/2 hours. Most of this time, it's been left alone, still, hoping that 'Doze' mode might do it's thing.
Any other owner owners have any thoughts? *OR* is this the sort of thing that will improve with subsequent charges over the next few days? Thanks in advance! |

Hey
Phone has been running off battery since 0715 this morning. I have made 20 mins of phone calls in a medium signal building, sent a few texts, browsed FB, email and other apps probably for an hour and i am on 61%. My Nexus 5 would probably be on 50% but would then lose percentage a lot faster. |

Blimey that doesn't sound too promising, i was just about to order one but the battery doesn't sound too much of an improvement over the Nexus 5.
My N5 has been off charge since 9am, made a few calls, texts etc. 40 minutes SOT used with the screen on 50% brightness, its been turned off and on to see if my SIM was a combi down to a nano and i am in an absolutely shit signal area (50% emergency calls only 50% hanging on for grim death) and its still at 81%

Its on 45% now being used over lunch and on and off since my last post. |

N5, that's why i didn't put N5X funnily enough, i am not disputing the battery life on the N5X is better, it is pretty obvious the SOT is going to be higher but I was expecting the N5X to be significantly better, not just a bit better.
I'll be picking one up at some point regardless, i just cant hack living with 16GB any more and the camera looks a beauty on the N5X. Marshmallow on the original N5 has been a right eye opener though, the battery life is so much better, standby times particularly, you can put the phone down and pick it up 3 hours later and the battery hasn't dropped. SOT is still fairly piss poor though at 3 to 4 hours. I have had a few texts since my last post and checked FB and Twitter briefly and my N5 has dropped to 79% (screen is at 50% brightness). |

hi,
been using the n5x since Friday. when the phone is on my bedside table overnight it loses between 1-2% over the 8hrs. that's remarkable. however, when the phone is in use the battery drain is shocking. losing about 10% during half an hours use. |

Bit worried I've made the wrong choice. Prior to this I had a OnePlus One (which went Boom - well, faulty Microphone) that got me through til bedtime. |

See it sounds a good idea but then isn't it more personal data put at risk? How long until reports of theft of finger print data etc ? Also I don't miss it on the moto x style, think the phone is better without it.

I shut down all my apps, restarted, did nothing but browse Chrome for 3 or 4 minutes.
Handset lost 5% and states 1hr 18mins left with 24% battery. Pathetic. |

Have you actually looked to see what is using your battery under the battery stats section ? I had horrendous drain while an email was stuck trying to send. Fixed that and battery (on my nexus 6) is way better than its ever been on previous software versions.

Well i woke up this morning all ready to rush off to a Carphone Whorehouse and then i checked in here and the urge dissipated again.
On the original Nexus 5 using Marshmallow there is a battery drain linked to a WiFi bug, you need to turn off WiFi Scanning in the location settings. Given it is an OS bug not a hardware one this might help you N5x owners. |

It might not make any difference on the N5X mate but it has to be worth a try for a few days.
Can anyone whack a pair of headphones in and see what it is like? I saw on a review that the headphone voltage is really low and therefore the audio volume is even lower than it is on the original N5 and lets be honest you have zero chance of getting ear damage with that! |

I went for a Nexus 5x yesterday and i was seriously unimpressed just how cheap it felt next to an original Nexus 5 so i bought a Moto X Play lol no where near as powerful as the N5x obviously but after using the original Nexus 5 i am amazed at the screen, camera etc.
Anyway after one charge its now down to 63% with 2 hours 39 minutes SOT. I sooooooooooooooo much wanted a N5x but im sick of crap battery life so it was time for a change. |

I think that's what I like about my move from nexus to moto x style - the pure quality of the phone and the screen. The nexus is good for its pure Android, but the quality is just cheap.

There are micro lags but I bought it knowing that anyway, it's not the greatest chipset in the world. To be honest though it doesn't seem much different from my Nexus 5 in use. Motorola have said they are aware of some issues and hope to fix them in future updates, whether they will or not remains to be seen.
Battery now at 17% with 5hrs 1min SOT. WiFi left on, mobile data left on, location set to high accuracy, screen at 50% brightness, I've also got a shitty mobile signal here. |

update: I returned my n5x. not only was the battery life dreadful the audio was shockingly bad. plugging £150 headphones made no difference, extremely flat sounding. tinny loudspeaker and earpiece just made the device sound cheap. the speed, camera, fingerprint sensor and turbo charge were decent on the other hand.
on the whole, the nexus 5x was a great disappointment. |

Some of the reviews for the 5X have pointed out that the headphone voltage is really low and not only was the volume lacking it also sounded a bit crap, i thought they were just being a bit picky TBH but you seem to have hit the nail on the head with your own findings.
The audio quality on the Moto X Play was astonishing after coming from the Nexus 5. |

I wish I had read this a few hours ago before ordering the N5X from CPW. At what point could I cancel or change the order? I love my N5 and was hoping for the same but better.

I ordered it click and collect from CPW so it will give me a chance to look at it and see if I think it's worth it over the N5.
