177010004 sending unwanted texts

I have started to receive texts from 177010004 which turns out to be a company that sends out various texts and charges 12p per text. I am receiving unwanted Lotto reminders. I get these free in my email box. I have surfed the internet for a solution to stopping these texts which are draining my funds. But others who are receiving them haven't found a solution either as texting STOP to the number doesn't work. Luckily I don't use my mobile very much (very basic model) so put it in 'calls barred' mode in the hope this would prevent any texts getting to my phone, but found a 'missed call' notice today, so does that mean these texts can still get through?
The only other solution I can think of is to change my number, but also thinking of upgrading my mobile, although I only use it for emergencies when I go out, so don't want anything sophisticated.

Yes I saw that last night amongst others I found on the internet, but there hadn't been any replies then. Having gone back into it today, I can see the replies and followed the advice. Hopefully it is now resolved.

I have a Motorola V220 and never bother sending texts as it just isn't worth all the effort, and i had no idea how to change the text to uppercase. Have spent ages going through the manual and finally got the gist of it, And blow me down, I got yet another call from them, so replied with my new found texting ability LOL and yay - it worked, got a text back confirming that I would no longer receive them. Result!
