I don't know about ratings etc but I know they do show Eastenders in the states. They used to cut a lot out and the episodes were only around 18 or 19 minutes each (I'm not sure if that's still the case though?)

Sadly, none of the UK Soaps or Australian soaps are aired on any major network or major cable station.
Honestly, most Americans are probably unaware of these soaps. Due to lack of exposure. Eastenders has been on PBS, (that's where most English TV ends up). However, the PBS channels are locally base and not everyone would get a chance to see it. In the mid 2000's Eastenders aired on BBCAmerica, but the didn't last long I know of attempt to air Corrie in 70's and again in 80's but it didn't last long. Home & Away was aired on FX in 1994/1995 and it started from the beginning. I am unaware of any attempts to show Hollyoaks or Emmedale at any point. At least Hulu has brought some of these shows to American viewers |

I just recently moved to America and there are no British or Australian soaps on telly here! I get my soap fix from dailymotion.

Don't think Brookside has ever been aired in America.

EE is available on PPV on Dish satellite service, it is $9.99 a month. And is about two months behind. I watch on youtube or bbc sites. It used to be on PBS but the stations in my area stopped showing it.

Way back in the day, Prisoner Cell Block H (which the current series Wentworth Prison is based on) was apparently quite big for a brief period in the US.
There was an awful Australian soap from the 90's called Paradise Beach which was produced specifically with a view to cracking the American market. It was set in Australia yet they had actors in it speaking with fake American accents to try and endear the show to the US audience. It only lasted a few weeks over there as it was up against Oprah in the schedules. It aired on Sky One over here. Isla Fisher and Manu Bennett from Spartacus were in it. It was dire. |

Coronation St is more often than not the most popular show in Canada
Eastenders is roughly 18 months behind and on a cable channel, somewhere in the 90s on the guide |
