Sixty-Five years ago this month, the much-loved comic strip by Charles Schulz
appeared.

When I was a kid in the 1980s, Snoopy was everywhere-you could buy kids' books and
toys featuring Schulz's pooch all over the place. Oddly, when I read the strip
first I didn't like Charlie Brown. "Who wants to read about someone who always
loses?" I thought as a child. It was only when I was older that I started seeing
both the pathos and the charm of the boy who wasn't let kick the football.

.
There's an ongoing project to reprint all the strips in chronological order, will be complete early next year. One of the first things I'm going to buy when I win the lottery and move into a house big enough to hold them all.

There's also quite a lot of general "Peanuts" reprints available- "Woodstock:Master
of Disguise", "Peanuts: It's Your Year Charlie Brown!" etc. There's quite a lot
of them available everywhere- I wonder if Peanuts Worldwide (the
company that owns the copyright) are doing a "push" on
Peanuts books and merchandise to tie in with the anniversary.

And there' a new "Peanuts" movie coming as well....
