Here is your place to post 5 thoughts from last night's episode. I'll do mine later.

1) Lord Sugar prefers ballsy, louder candidates than ones who are more Under-The-Radar. Hence, why Jenny was (in my opinion, unjustly) fired.
2) Vana looks a lot like Alanis Morissette. Not related to business, but it made me somewhat like her, even if she was a bitch. (Pardon my language!)
3) Karren really hated everyone tonight. Jenny couldn't have gone right in that restaurant.
"You took the assistant's word for it, you could've asked the chef!"
"The assistant said no, why did you bother the chef?"
4) Selina will definitely get one of those "losing the passion" firings, as she's really looking "Can't be bothered" at the minute.
5) Charleine is the only candidate I still like. She's been consistent throughout. CHARLEINE FOR THE WIN

1) Karren in trainers, what is going on here?
2) Joseph, what a numpty, so desperate to be better than Richard and shut him down.
3) How many shots do they have of Selina doing her smugface? Because every time she said something it they edited in one of them.
4) Apart from telling us he's fluent in French, what else did Claude do this week?
5) I'm glad Brett didn't go week one.

I'd just add that I think it makes a slight difference on male and female. I think he likes loud, ballsy women and quiet, professional men.

Well, yes but you know what I mean. Saira was the first one, and I think she described herself as that.

Tom Pellereau probably wouldn't have won if he'd been female, but Luisa probably wouldn't have got as far had she been male. He has different things that he likes depending on gender, I'm not sure if he himself is aware of it. Of course there are exceptions to the rule, Paul Torrisi being the shining example.

Not a lot!

I think part of the problem is that he's been portrayed as some sort of "hard man" and is desperately trying to live up to it, so unless he can play that part, he doesn't know what to say or do.

I did have to laugh when watching "You're Fired" and he claimed "Nobody says 'no' to me!"

I didn't think him being fluent in French was that relevant, but I suppose it was as far as the fact that the boys were trying very hard to speak it. Personally, I don't know why they made that much effort; nearly everyone in France speaks English. I recall the first ever abroad task (the infamous Makro cheese one) when Lord Sugar said at the briefing, 'I don't want to hear 'I don't speak French' as an excuse; I've done business in every country in the world, and I don't speak any language other than English.' I suppose it's polite to try to learn the language, but given their issues with the mirror, they might have been better placed spending that time actually checking what it was they needed and where they could find it.

1. Selina and Elle really grew on me this episode. Didn't like either based on their auditions. Both showed a more human, vulnerable side. Neither performed particularly well in the task though.

2. Vana is a complete bitch. Really dislike her. She was an awful manager as well, and fully deserved to go. To add insult to injury the look she gave when Jenny was giving her speech after she'd been fired lost her any dignity.

3. Richard and Sam are the only two males who have made a proper positive impression on me. I liked the way Richard managed his task in Episode 2. They both seem like two very pleasant individuals.

4. I am confused as to when Charleine's rage happens. It looked like it happened in last night's loser cafe but perhaps it was edited out. Rather peculiar.

5. This year is still better than last year based on the first 3 episodes. Better candidates and better tasks.

1. The end showdown between Charleine and Selina will be glorious, people!
2. Vana's accent reminds me of Ruby Wax
3. Thumbs up for hipster Karren
4. Joseph now only needs a holster to complete his look (already got the braces!)
5. Now twice in one year time that a Colombian gets done in by the specifications of the buying nine items task

I response to the first one, I hope that does happen, and not that it actually happened in The third losers cafe and it just wasn't included!

And number 5, I thought Vana was ColUMbian not ColOmbian.

1. I really miss nick hewer with his array of facial expressions as he hovers in the background watching the team make a total balls up of things
2. Vana should have been fired,end of. She was the PM, she had a flawed strategy, she refused to listen to her team and then she completely belittled her team mates at any given opportunity.
3. Joseph is an idiot.
4. Joseph looks like walker from dad's army (and probably does deals like him too)
5. there is still no stand out character after week three

I'm glad someone else thinks that!

I half expected him to say "Listen. I can get some snails. Shells might be a bit damaged when they fell of the lorry ... but £5. No questions asked!"

Yeah, me too. Don't know if they were wearing the same outfit. Still, I hope they are on the same team (next week or in the future) and we will get a final showdown in the boardroom.


Just googled it, and both are possible? At least in my country it's ColOmbia and she would be a Colombiaanse, so in my country it's 100% correct (no U anywhere)

Or did you mean to say she is an American (in that case strike my remark )? And no, she isn't (if that was the question).

1. If you have to buy fresh fish in a task get it done early while the fishmongers are open.
2. Admitting you made mistakes will save you from being fired in the boardroom this series.
3. A whole cheese does not mean it was made with whole milk.
4. There is apparently only one cheese shop in Boulogne.

Yup. The rules seem to have changed. Previously, Lord Shuggs would wade in and say "All I'm hearing is 'I take responsibility for this mess' and 'I take responsibility for that disaster'. Well, you are responsible ... you're fired!"

With such a major shouting match, I doubt they'd cut it out unless they absolutely had no choice because there were so many other things to keep in. And in that unlikely event, I sincerely doubt they'd be so shoddy as to tease it in the opening sequence and never reveal it.

(Admittedly they did in Series 1 with Matthew and Miranda, who were seen yelling at each other in the opening and we never did find out what that was about - but it was clearly something personal in the house, because they were never on a team together. And the editing has become a bit more sharp since then anyway.)

1. How does Lord Sugar know what Jimmy Choos are? Definitely sounded like a line he'd been given.

5. little bit boring, this series. The highlights at the start of each episode don't seem that intriguing. Apprentice by numbers.

They are on different teams next week... Charleine's make up looked identical and Selina was wearing her fur jacket...

How do you know Vana is not American? She has an American accent...



I was thinking about that Matthew and Miranda clip! It was very odd, and will probably always be a mystery to astute Apprentice fans!

The only thing I can glean from the clip we were showed is Matthew yelling, 'Our group is...' I feel like it was probably an argument about who was the better team. Matthew was quite scathing about the girls' performance. Maybe he was implying that the boys were generally all much stronger than the girls, and Miranda was annoyed about it. It seems like the most likely explanation.

I tell you what though... the teams never seem to interact with one another on the tasks anymore, but if they did, it would be great if the editors played a double bluff on the people who try to work out spoilers by showing an argument between members of opposite teams! These are generally used to work out who makes it to mixed teams... if they showed a man and a woman arguing, but it turned out to be from an early task and they were still on opposite teams, that would really throw a spanner in the works. It could be like Saira and Tim's argument on the football task: 'You cannot destroy it.' 'Why not?' 'Because that's wrong!'

Yeah in Series 1 there was a reasonable amount of cross-team interaction. I feel like we saw much more from the house in the early series.

Anyhow, back to the point, upon further inspection, it appears Charleine's earrings are different in the clip to how they were in Episode 3 so it is still to come in an upcoming episode!

I think you are both wrong, and Lord Sugar's preferences change in a predictable manner during each series. In the early stages, he is looking for loud, brash sales-droids. But by the end of the process he remembers who he really likes working with, and that is quiet professional types who can be trusted to get on with the job.

There used to be a handy aide-memoire sitting next to Lord Sugar in the boardroom: he'd worked alongside Nick and Margaret since the 1980s.
