Kathy is a terrible mother and a VERY whiny lady. So tired of her full on victim mode. Ian made the right decision to chuck out his mother. Kathy didn't even bat an eyelid when she heard that her youngest grandson was responsible for the death of her eldest granddaughter. All she cares about is money and Phil. What have they done to Kathy Beale?!?

I blame BK and the Hollyoaks team.

I think Ian is a hypocrite. While what Kathy told him wasn't nice, he just told her his son killed his daughter (did he mention Jane dragging the body to a field?) and they're letting an innocent man rot in jail, but Kathy can't be forgiven for something she changed her mind about.

She's a terrible mother. 3 of her sons had a near death experience up north and she's still pretending to them she's in Canada with the name Sandy!

Kathy is a victim though.

She's been mentally abused and controlled for the past 15 years. Now that she's had a taste of life away from Gavin the old Kathy is starting to come to the surface again. She said to Ian what most of us have said along - Jane should have gone to the police the night it happened. She even showed concern for Max, a man she's never met. Far more concern than his family and neighbours have in fact.

I'm really glad she's back. The execution of the storyline has been terrible but the one thing they got right was the depiction of Kathy as a victim. She'll easily be redeemed for anything she's done in my opinion.

bib 1 - Exactly! It always surprises me when people here, on facebook and on twitter criticise her for the way she is now. I guess a lot of EE viewers don't have any experience/understanding of what it's like living with a control freak for years.

bib 2 Has anyone told her the person convicted of the murder is Ben's girlfriends Dad?

Or that Ian and Max share a grandchild through their son and daughter.

I never saw Kathy in her first stint and I only know her as Sandy in Hollyoaks but I really like Kathy.

Kathy hasn't played the victim. She has acknowledged what she did was wrong and has tried to explain herself explaining that Gavin has been controlling and manipulating her. She's never said it in a 'feel sorry for me' kind of way and has never tired to excuse herself for the part she played in it.
