Yes, they chose the simpering and needy Victoria Pendleton instead. For whats it's worth I think Rebecca would have been a lot better, no whinging she'd have just got on with it.
Rebecca was actually in contention for the 2013 series - i.e. the year that we had an estate agent in the line-up.

Someone else must have dropped out 10 minutes before they were going to go on air

I can see one of either Alison King or Ryan Thomas signing up this year, considering they're both leaving Corrie

Ryan Thomas, perhaps. I wouldn't mind seeing him take part.

As Vodka said, Alison King is pretty low-profile, so is unlikely.

For beauty, charm, and the obvious style and bearing of a dancer, Lucy Verasamy the ITV weather presenter. Why she was not on last year I can't understand - I am sure that she would have done 50 times better than Carol Kirkwood who for me was more of a joke contestant.

Also Katherine Kelly, the best actress ever on Coronation Street. See her in my favourite episode which I put on YouTube in two parts: "The Adoption Interview". She is presently in Mr Selfridge but has not been given much of a part.

Finally, Tracey Ullman (unless she is doing her own comic version of the show. I can imagine her as Tess and Claudia)

I'd quite like to see Tyger Drew-Honey, I'm surprised he's not done it already.

Because she has next to no public profile and isn't a BBC employee? Why would they go for a relative unknown when they could get the UK's highest profile meteorologist.

He was very heavily rumoured last year, I did wonder if he was the male celeb who dropped out last minutre and left Joanne without a partner.

Unless I've missed something that says otherwise, there wasn't a male celebrity who dropped out at the last minute - it was always the plan to have Jo as a professional but not partnering a celebrity.

A Newsreader has said that she was told by a BBC Manager that she would have to do Strictly to progress her career despite being a Cambridge University Graduate.

No, it wasn't - Jo got offered the ITT slot at the last minute (which explains why it was so ad-hoc and rubbish), there were various sources at the time saying that a male celeb had dropped out last-minute and Jo was the one left out. She'd previously been tweeting that she wondered who her celeb partner would be.

They've never had a spare professional dancer before (the previous year Janette simply didn't dance half the pro numbers) and there'd be no reason to start last year - there's no need for cover unless the pro gets injured in the first couple of weeks as after that there are eliminated pros, and they can always call in favours like they did in asking Anya back for the mid-series pro numbers.

Probably been mentioned on here before, but Jake Canuso just said on Loose Women that he would like to do the show. He used to be a dancer, so would presumably be pretty good.

He would be a major ringer though.

True, but it sounds like he was more of a Bruno-type dancer, dancing with Elton John and the Spice Girls etc. rather than ballroom, plus it was a long time ago, so they could probably get away with it if they wanted to have him on. I find that as the show gets further away from what it once was I care less about ringers, its just nice to see some good dancing in amongst all the props and theming.

Gives people plenty of time to warm up on their criticism!

Er, could be a bit tricky if he does well and the Beeb want to invite his friends and family on to ITT !
