Like many others, when it was announced she would be on SCD, I expected a vacuous diva, with an air of entitlement.

She completely won me over with her air of vulnerability and her sheer love of what she was doing.
I became a fan and also wish her well in whatever she does.

Yes, Harlequin is a division of HarperCollins that owns the Mills and Boon brand, but they also have a mainstream imprint which she'll be published by.

There is obviously a market for this kind of book and these kinds of stories told by celebs - isn't TOWIE's Jessica Wright also a novelist now?

I'm praying she doesn't narrate her talking book.

Good luck to her! She seems to have led a reasonably full life, with family, modelling AND Strictly. EVERYone in that position uses a ghostwriter.

At least with Abby I think there's a chance she would at least read what she had written, unlike many other so-called-slebs.

This quote:

"we’re looking forward to Abbey becoming the new star of the women’s commercial fiction market.”

sums it all up really. They'v already decided that she is going to be successful - not based upon the quality of any writing she does, but rather on the basis of her already being known.

Try publishing it under a different name, Abby... then we'll see if your writing, rather than your name, is enough to make you their "new star".

I wonder who her ghost writer is.

Well quite.

Maybe should have placed that in inverted commas.

I don't suppose when a celebrity writes a book they are going to let on that they have a ghost writer. Hence 'I wonder who her ghost writer is?'.
Lets face it Katie Price, Simon Cowell, Cheryl Cole, Wayne Rooney (don't know her married name) all have ghost writers.

Just reading in between the lines.

A trained monkey could write for Harlequin

Many are quite open about it but also many have had someone to tidy up the book after they write or dictate the story.

Whenever I hear of Ghost Writers, I'm reminded of Little Britain character Dame Sally Markham:-

So fed up with these celebrities pretending they can write. There are brilliant writers out there who can't get published because of people like Martine McCutcheon, Penny Smith! Fern Britton and now the footballers wife. Can't they Hoover up enough money from the day job?

I agree. I know of a brilliant writer but he will not make it because he is not a celebrity.

This with bells on. Abbey is my all time favourite Strictly contestant, and a deserved winner. Her natural grace and execution of her dances had me spellbound, I absolutely loved her. She is grounded, gracious, wonderful wife and mother. A beautiful lady.

I wish her all the very very best with her latest venture, will I buy her books, yes, why not, some escapism with some chick lit, never does any harm.

I wish her luck but still feel that she only gets the opportunities because of who she is. And she wasn't too bad on SCD and that worked for her.

To be honest I think it's an insult to the general public to say that we think all 'these people' write their own books. Of course ghost writers get used but not always. I just wish Abbey would be given the benefit of the doubt until, or if, proven otherwise. We're not thick.
