Subway
I might be imagining it, but has anybody else who goes to Subway noticed that they seem to toast their sandwiches for less time than they used to? It seems to be about 20 seconds now, and I'm sure it used to be closer to 40-50.
Maybe it's just my local one, but a Steak and Cheese sub is never piping hot like it used to be.. and as a result it generally seems to be 'stodgier' and less pleasant to eat. Anybody else? |

Some of the shops don't have the oven or microwave set to high heat. If I get my steak & cheese from the subway on the high street it's still warm when I get home. If I get one from the new subway that is a bit closer to my house only the bread is warm & the steak is cold.

What worries me more is the way the portions are no where near what they look like in the photos, and the bits of meat look processed rather than natural like in the photos.
I bought a steak and cheese sub and the 'steak' was like processed bits of meat, rather than slivers of real steak. |

I got another steak & cheese foot long from the subway nearest to me & mentioned to the guy that the last two only had the bread heated. He put it in the microwave twice & when I got back to the house 3 minutes later the steak was nice & hot & the cheese had melted perfectly. It was the best one I have had in a while.

Deary me. I thought I was Pedantic. You're not being obtuse are you? Ever heard of Processed meats? If you buy cuts of meat from a butcher that is not processed.

I'm fairly sure it is steak that Subway are putting on there. Steak comes in all sorts of forms from stewing steak and frying steak to best cuts. Clearly Subway steak isn't top quality, but it's still 'proper' steak.
Replies like WW's are the reason people don't post in the F&D section much. Some posters here are like the food poliice constantly pointing out things that "wrong" ie the size of food items that have not changed (wagon wheels is always quoted whenver anyone mentions that something that may have shrunk), Aspartame might not be good for some people ("show me the evidence!") etc. What makes me laugh is that they sprout their patronising rubbish without knowing the facts ie re the above. If the steak from Subway is not reformed why does it have Soya, wheat and barley listed in the ingredents on the Subway TUKI site ( indgredient information for people with food allergies). Or is he saying that a form of "proper" steak is Soya Barley and Wheat steak |

Imagine that - a fast food restaurant advertising food that looks nothing like what you get in real life.

If establishments cannot make their food look like how they advertise it then they shouldn't be allowed to sell it or advertise it like that - false advertising is illegal. |

Going to Subway and complaining about the quality of the food is like going to a Michael Bay film and complaining about the quality of the acting. But in both cases you know the colours are going to be strange and there will be explosions.

Does anyone know the reason why they won't heat anything up or toast any subs after midnight? I'm not a big fan of Subyway anyway, but the odd time after a night out we'll go to the one near us that's open until 5am. Everything is cold and they refuse to heat or toast anything. I'm always too drunk to ask why though!

I always feel subway seems to be the loneliest place to work. Do they always just employ one person? I go to about three different ones, we're always the only customers and there's always just one guy on his own. I look at the opening times and think wow, he's standing here in silence from 7 in the morning till 11 at night. Can't they get these people someone to work with them or a TV or something!

Both subways in my town have gone down hill, standards have fallen even with the quality of the meat, the chicken is processed from thailand and the pork is the cheapest imported
