Wasn't pleasant to listen to, sounded like she was pushing too much. Very much doubt she'll get through based on that....

She does seem to be straining a bit towards the end but still powerful and good

It wasn't her voice. Massively over auto-tuned.

I agree. It's because the SCC was her deeper, nicer, natural voice without auto-tune.

. I think i actually heard what sounded like some pitch correction software being used, probably not actual "autotune" as autotune is a specific type of (extreme) pitch correction.
also you can clearly hear they dubbed the backing track over the top of her post-production so they would have had to edit her performance to keep it in tune (and in time) with the backing track.

Lastly let's not forget that X Factor producers are super talented at editing so can manipulate footage and audio as much as they like and however they like. It must be fun having that much freedom and skill, I'd actually love to be a producer in a few years time

Stupid song choice

It's a smart choice by her tbh . It's showing Simon she can pull off and sing current chart music . It also helps that Simon's guest helper is from 1D as well.

I couldn't hear any suggestion of autotune or pitch-correction such as Melodyne on her voice. In terms of processing there's EQ and compression on there but that's standard and nothing to do with altering pitch.

I'm more surprised she knows a 1D song tbh with the age she is and the music she seems to be into.
I'm a few years younger than her and wouldn't know a 1D song if it bit me on the backside.

Nope, what they used was full auto-tune.

It annoys me that the producers choose to auto tune (or pitch correct if that is more accurate) any of the performances. These are meant to be auditions so we should simply hear what the singers and groups voices are like. No doubt all the judges houses performances we will see are going to be massively over-produced and pitch corrected.....

I don't think you know what autotune sounds like. Please point out the telltale autotune artefacts on that performance.

That question betrays the fact that you can't have worked with auto-tune since the late 90's. They've altered the pitch all the way through!!!! It has the effect of taking 20 years off her age also. Maybe because its a young song (that they're still selling), but it's actually a terrible decision.

If that's not obvious I don't know what else to say.

I think you're right actually, I think it's EQ adjustments not pitch correction that I'm hearing in the video. Nothing wrong with EQ imo, it's just a slight enhancement to make her voice sound more refined and brings out her chest resonance a bit more. Sure it's not completely "natural" but it's not all that noticeable and doesn't detract from her vocal tone at all. And yea i'm definitely hearing the compression but again that's just done to keep the dynamic of her voice consistent and doesn't hinder her performance. I don't see why all this is bothering people, I mean I only even noticed it when someone brought it up in this thread.
