I have used both autotune and Melodyne and the recently added pitch-correction in Logic. Aside from the 'pitch-snapping' that occurs with clumsy or stylised use in my experience it flattens out the harmonics and I can't hear either of those consequences here even though they're often apparent in studio recordings. I'm not claiming to be an expert as I merely dabble but you haven't actually answered the question. If your knowledge is as superior as you imply I'd love you to enlighten me.
