I would like to see a few more dance styles introduced to strictly to mix things up a bit but I don't think it'll happen. For example commentary, jazz, rock n roll, Bollywood, Lindy hop, swing and even hip hop it'll be a totally different forte. What do you think

It works on DWTS because (apart from Louis & Tony) all their pros are fit young things. #YearOfTheAnton or not, I've no desire to see him do a Hip Hop routine.

The addition of new dance styles to DWTS slowly ruined it for me.

It's less and less about ballroom & Latin as each season comes.

I don't mind modern elements in choreography, but I don't like the idea of just chucking out tradition in favour of random dance genres.

Like to see more innovation in Strictly. Big fan of Lindy Hop,Jitterbug and Disco. Jazz might also be good but find Contemporary a bit boring, all that poncing about in pyjamas and underwear looking miserable doesn't do a lot for me. Would also like a group dance as on DWTS. However, I want to see the traditional dances with proper steps and the APPROPRIATE music.

It's a no thanks from me too. I don't care for the regularity with which the charleston is danced to have other dances introduced.

I'd welcome these dances, come to think of it, as a replacement of the Swingathon that sometimes crops up; maybe Week 11, just before real 2 dance week, the couples could do 1 full, normal dance, and 1 45/60 second new dance (Contemporary, Swing, Hip Hop, Bollywood, Jazz, Disco), which'd get an overall score from the judges as a consensus (1 through to 10).

So it'd be like:

Couple A: Waltz 39, Disco 8, Total 47/50

Couple B: Samba 38, Jazz 9, Total 47/50

Couple C: Charleston 38, Contemporary 8, Total 46/50

Couple D: Rumba 34, Swing 10, Total 44/50

Couple E: Quickstep 35, Bollywood 7, Total 42/50

Couple F: Argentine Tango 31, Hip Hop 6, Total 37/50

I'm in the NO camp, but would like to see the celeb group dance come back- not the danceathon, hate that. Lindyhop, jitterbug were used as celeb group dances in series 5, and they worked.

I don't think it is a good idea. I actually wish SCD would take the Charleston completely out of the lineup of dances. I don't understand why they would even have a dance like that when it is a ballroom based programme. Keep AT because that seems to be a crowd pleaser.

DWTS is bashed on these boards and I can't blame everyone. I do think the team dances from DWTS were interesting because the celebs are doing the same dance but they are doing ballroom when they do those team dances. I don't know how that idea would fly on SCD though.

Not only that it is hard to define what these different dances should look like from a judging and teaching perspective. Did you ever seen the epic battle between with pros and judges that happened on the Australian version of DWTS when they introduced the west coast swing? Even though it is a partner dance and requires a skillful lead and follow and is danced in competition the judges and pros could not decide on what it should have looked like.

Please no - strictly come dancing is based on latin and ballroom with some partnered social dances also added. I already feel like charleston doesn't really fit as it's not always a partner dance and isn't really danced socially in the same way salsa and argentine tango are (I'm sure they exist somewhere, but I've never really seen social charleston nights advertised anywhere.

If they were going to add anything then I'd like to see american rhythm. Not ACTUAL american rhythm, but strictly american rhythm ie - any international latin dance you fancy with some lifts chucked in without len marking them down. Very much modeled after american smooth which in the real world is not just a "golden age of hollywood" style foxtrot with lifts.

jjust would not work - most pros here are ballroom and latin specialist and have no knowledge of some of the styles mentioned above - where do you draw the line? the additon of other dance styles has dumbed down DWTS not improved it imo - having pros who do good contemporary jazz and mediocre latin and ballroom or vice versa with the exception of Hough/Ballas who trained at Italia Conti in the daytime and then with World Champion standard Dancers (Mark's parents) for ballroom and latin as kids.

The likes of Anton can only do one style well - can you imagine him doing hip hop or jazz????

I can imagine Anton doing hip-hop but that's another matter altogether.

Then it would be the same as all the other dance shows tried on tv and faded into oblivion .

The SCD formula works . Leave well alone .

Well it could work in that it wouldn't matter if the pros knew some of those styles or not, because thye are not partner dances. So the pros aren't really relevant or needed. All you need is a line up of celebs to go out and perform a hip hop or bollywood or a tap dancing routine.

I wouldn't watch that.

I miss the group dances too - and more so the brilliant training videos that came with them.

'Oooh, he's like a little Gordon Ramsey!'

The only elements from DWTS I might like to see is the partner swap week, it'd be good to see some celebs get handed a different partner for a week and she how well they do.

But yes DWTS has been overrun with new dance styles and the show is not at all technical anymore.

Nice one.

Pass Jay to Natalie for a beautiful, classy ballroom.

Pass Jeremy to Janette for lols.

Pass Peter to Aliona so she can go batshizzcrazyape mental with her choreography whilst putting itching powder in his jockstrap.

Pass Ainsley to Karen cos... they're the only ones left.

Georgia can go to Pasha just coz. (see above).

Katie can go to Aljaz to see whether she really does have some Latin potential.

Anita can go to Tristan because he needs some fun.

Kirsty can go to Kevin which will utterly bemuse the pair of them.

Carol can go to Gleb to see whether that changes his OTTsexy persona one iota (I'm guessing not a chance).

Jamelia can go to Brendan to finally send him over the edge.

Helen can go to Anton (just to pay her out for the launch show the beeaitch - lol not really).

Kellie can go to Giovanni and send him running for the hills.

This is indeed a great idea . My only proviso is, in the case of the couple eliminated, would the blame be on the switched pro How is the reaction on DWTS if it has ever happened .

They don't hold an elimination during that week, so everyone gets to go back to their original partner before someone gets voted out.

(for my two pennies' worth, I'm against the idea)

Thanks Stig, but why no elimination that week ?

So that everyone gets to go back to their original partner and to avoid the situation you proposed.
