Do we know what time they're releasing it tomorrow and how many episodes are in season one?

I'm going to exercise some restraint and just watch one a week.

I don't know whether to binge this or Jessica Jones first!

Both have had excellent reviews

I'm rather disappointed that its been released all in one, following a weekly thread on here can be very entertaining and other people always manage to spot things I've missed or come up with interesting theories.

Well everyone could comment on each episode and put spoiler tags on?

Use reddit. It will have a sub-reddit dedicated to whatever show you're watching with a post for each episode. I'm currently working my way through The Leftovers and after each episode i will jump on reddit and browse the episode discussions that took place a year ago. 700+ comments with every little detail picked up and discussed.

Having said that i'm not sure how popular The Man in the High Castle will be and it will certainly take a few days before there's any decent discussion worth reading.

Nice, I've not really used reddit so that's quite interesting: https://www.reddit.com/r/maninthehig...ussion_thread/

So did I oddly!! Yes very good. It's a slow burner though and newcomers expecting constant action back Nazi/Japanese vs underground battles might be disappointed.

Just have one question, having read the book as a kid and I do not and will not subscribe to Amazon Prime.

Is the series epic in size and scale as befits such a dramatic and world encompassing alternate history dystopian work by Philip K. Dick ?

Can i ask how you guys are watching? I get unavoidable judder during camera pans when using Netflix and Amazon apps (or through windows) as content encoded at 23.97fps doesn't convert to 60hz too well, with the end result being dropped frames. It's the same sort of judder that forced Sony to offer a 24hz mode on the PS3/4 when watching blu-rays but unfortunately there is nothing similar for streaming movies/tv shows on Netflix/Amazon.

My only solution is find the episodes through, ahem, other means and watch it on a PC but it seems that the only show people are interested in right now is Jessica Jones. I'm finding this all very frustrating as i want to watch The Man in the High Castle and would pay for it if i could get a silky smooth stream.

I don't expect anyone to understand this issue

Obviously use spoiler tags if any one answers this question but.

Do we find out in this series (or the books) why there is an alternative reality?

Most of the time I get sub SD quality on my Xbox One so switched to my PC and its perfect there, although Xbox was fine again last night. I dont understand why that would happen as they both use the same wired connection to router.

The issue i am describing most people probably wouldn't even notice. It is a subtle judder that you only really notice when the camera is panning at a certain speed. The easiest way to see the problem is to watch a blu-ray on your PS3 with and without 24hz mode enabled. There is a big difference, in my eyes. Watching Netflix or Amazon on any app (or windows browser) is like watching a blu-ray on PS3 without the 24hz mode.

I see the same judder on every streaming service I have ever used. Having said that i have no idea how the app works on your TV. It's not inconceivable that the app on your TV could switch to 24hz to match the frame rate of whatever you are watching, therefore creating a smooth experience. Doesn't help me who can only access Amazon Prime through a windows browser or app on a console.

As someone who's read the book and now watched the series I can answer this question.

Spoiler

Edit: My general overview of the show is that it focuses too much on the characters involved in the tape conspiracy and shows us little of the Nazified world or the Japanese world. The Germans have hypersonic passenger jets but what's the rest of their tech like? No fancy military (apart from nukes) or space tech on view or even referred too. May be the budget didn't stretch that far but still a few lines of dialogue would have created a better imagined world.

I've been using my Fire Stick. Only getting very noticeable judder at the start of episodes. Otherwise it looks fine and I'm sensitive to slight judder being a long time gamer.
