Just have one question, having read the book as a kid and I do not and will not subscribe to Amazon Prime.

Is the series epic in size and scale as befits such a dramatic and world encompassing alternate history dystopian work by Philip K. Dick ?
Well it's a TV show so obviously has to tell the story in a slightly different way. It successfully (in my view) depicts the world of the book - but because it's a TV show focusses more on a gripping storyline rather than spending time exploring the details of the world (little things keep emerging bit by bit).

I'd say that it's clear the makers of the show have a respect for the book and are really trying to do it justice.

Watched the pilot and enjoyed it a lot! I didn't recognise the book much, but I think that's a good thing: I remember the plot going off in very odd directions (Nazis.... COLONIZING MARS!). Hopefully they don't go down that route.

Yes the Nazi's space adventures referred to in PKD's novel are probably less convincing to us (unless you're a big fan of the history channel!!) than for the 60s generation when the novel came out.

One of the downsides of having all the eps available is not watching them all too quick otherwise I'll be waiting a long time for season two. I try to stretch it out. It's not gonna be easy though because I've really enjoyed the first 3 eps.

Saw the first episode last night and I really enjoyed it. In fact it's the first decent original show I've seen on Amazon. I was considering cancelling my Prime subscription when it expires next month but I could be tempted to renew it now.

I am about half way through the series and I really like it. I think it is clever to have it more accesble to those who shudder at the thought of Sci-Fi/Fantasy. Yes, its more of a conspiracy thriller, but it works. If I were to compare this to any other show, it would be Game of Thrones were its a Fantasy show for those who balk at fantasy.

(Me? I love Fantasy and sci-fi so it makes no difference)

I agree with what others have said. This is by far the best originl show Amazon have made so far

Indeed. With scheduled tv I can't wait for the next episode to come round. With this I am trying to push the next episode as far away as possible. I even manged not to watch an episode yesterday though I doubt I will manage the same today.

I just live in the knowledge that after this I have Jessica Jones to watch

TV has become more like reading a book - something you do at your own pace. You can devour it in one massive session or do a chapter every night. It just means that you can't talk about it with friends until you have all finished it.

It does seem to be going that way. 3 shows I'm watching that are like this, once apon a time, crossing lines and this. Usually watch once apon a time every 2 weeks, crossing lines every few weeks although I've only about 5 eps left. Obviously if more shows are shown in this way then you can watch them as quickly as you want because there'll be another to watch.

How big in scale is this tv series ? Is it epic in size to do justice to the novel ?

Not really. It's very focused on the lives of the main characters. The outside world is peripheral so we get glimpses. No adventures on the Nazi moonbase I'm afraid!! Not that you had any in the novel!!

The man who adapted the book was on Breakfast recently and he said that it was a hard task making it accessible to a TV audience. He said that some parts of the book are still there but they have gone past the actual story although parts will be shown in the second series. I think the words "based on" sum it up.

Probably because it is American centric show in nature.

It would be nice to hear what happened to the UK, whether we fought to the last man or were taken over like America was.

I think Europe and Africa is completely under Nazi control thats the impression I got but it was Nazi POV so they would say that. Russia arent a superpower so that leaves China as the only other possible big player did they ally with Japan?
