I'm looking forward to its return. There's a grim fascination to seeing the world as it might have been if Germany had won the Second World War. Grimmest of all is seeing how most ordinary people adapt perfectly well to the new order - like the cop and the ash fallout from the "hospital".

It looks like they're going to show us a bit more of the alternate world this series. Series 1 seemed to involve a lot of talk indoors and on dark roads. Should be fun!!

Got to have a rewatch of this, frankly forgot where we were in the story.
Looking forward to where it will go, find the story fascinating, like a TV SSGB. |

Watched the pilot for this when it first came out but never got round to watching the full season.
Something else to add to the watch List. |

Looking forward to the growing Cold War between the Germans and the Japanese. The Germans clearly have a technological advantage as demonstrated by hypersonic jet. Would like to hear about space accomplishments.

It's like they are stuck in the 50s even though it is the same time there as here. I also hope we get to see more of the dimension jumping and their reaction to our world compared to their's. |

Correction. It's supposedly only a supersonic jet. Must have been hypersonic in the book.
They'll probably pull back from Dick's German lunar and Martian exploits. |

I love seeing what the world might be like if Germany and Japan won the war. Especially in terms of how technology might have changed or in this case stagnated.

The TV show takes place in 1962.
Thanks for the correction, I did think that when they came into our reality they were in our time zone, but I assume they are also in 62 in our reality on the show. But I was also referring to how the technology has stagnated after the war so they are in the 50s in terms of tech and culture. Quote:
. Although the series is set in 1962, the use of the 1950s for many touchstones suggests the cultural stagnation that would have occurred under totalitarian occupation.

I think many things would be different. Some, such as technology, could be more advanced with respect to the real 1962, such as the Nazi "Concorde". Whereas other things, such as cultural development, would be behind the real 1962. I don't suppose there's much going on in popular youth culture (e.g. Rock'n'roll, pop music in general) and things like the Scouts being replaced by the Hitler Youth.
Society would seem old fashioned to a 60s kid from our world. Hard to know how technological a Nazi led society would have been. You'd have expected them to have a few years lead on our Americans but the Nazi/Japanese Cold War as depicted by Dick didn't seem as intense as our one so military technology development may have slowed soon after the war. |

Yes modern pop music wouldn't have developed in the West as the Nazis would have not liked its black roots. There would be no student led youth rebellions and no hippies.

You'd have expected them to have a few years lead on our Americans but the Nazi/Japanese Cold War as depicted by Dick didn't seem as intense as our one so military technology development may have slowed soon after the war. In the real world the cold war spurred technological development and in particular the space race spawned a whole host of technologies and innovations that are now commonplace. It's hard to see what would similarly spur on Nazi technology in this world. The Japanese culture as portrayed in the show does not seem particularly interested in technology and without that competition where's the driver? I don't remember whether both sides are supposed to possess nuclear weapons? |

Anyone know if they're gonna release all episodes at once, or once a week?
I got bored with book pretty quickly, but the series has managed to hold my attention and now Westworld has finished I need something to replace it.

Watched episode 1 of S2 last night, enjoyed it, just as good as S1.
Going to watch the rest over the next few days, quite looking forward to it. |

I have just finished the second season, it was interesting to see where they followed the book original and where they changed the story.
I had a theory about the trade minister's assistant based on something Juliana saw in season 1 so was pleased that I guessed correctly. What I did find pulling me out of the story was seeing the three actors who were in Battlestar Galactica, three Cylons together! I guess that is what you get when you film in Vancouver. |

It is great seeing Nazi New York and Japanese San Francisco.
Also Nazi Berlin with all the architecture. Hitler's hall was amazing. |

I was amazed about how quiet the Berlin roads were; capital of the most powerful nation on Earth and the roads weren't even half full. Must have been a Sunday...
