anyone finding really bad sound quality on Amazon, I had to switch this off after 5 mins. The picture was perfect HD but the sound was muffled. So annoyed as I was looking forward to watching season 2

Just finished watching the 2 seasons of The Man in the High Castle. This started off in a plausable way in the depiction of a USA after the German/Japanese victory in World War 2. But as the 20 episodes progressed, especially when we got into Season 2, the storylines and characterizations became more and more improbable. Especially the central character: Juliana. The most interesting character is SS General John Smith, played by British actor Rufus Sewell.

I was amazed about how quiet the Berlin roads were; capital of the most powerful nation on Earth and the roads weren't even half full. Must have been a Sunday...

It was better sound quality last night but the show has really slowed down and it wasn't exactly fast action to begin with , seems to be a drop in budget but you would think it would have a higher one after its success season 2
As for being improbable that's the whole point we are talking alternate dimensions here , this was never a historical case study. |

Frank Spotnitz, the guy who developed the series, left the production early in season 2.

Yup, I had problems with Episodes 1 and 2. Enjoyed the first season but after 4 episodes of Season 2 I'm bored with it.

Haven't got there yet, but when you watch a film in '60's London it's amazing how little traffic there is about

What is it with the Japanese Trade Minister, I'm up to episode 5 and haven't got a clue what the crack is with him? Is he hallucinating or experiencing an alternate reality?
If this is explained by the end of the series, then no spoilers please. |

It's hard to comment on this wonderful series without "coughing up" some on those spoiler thingies that everyone gets in a frenzy about.
Here's my take on both seasons without
Spoiler
I will read the book, after Crimbo, to see how it differs from the Amazon offering. Somebody, earlier in this thread, wrote that the first season was believable but the second one wasn't! I may have paraphrased that, by the way. However, I find that a ridiculous line to take as "The Man In The High Castle" is totally fiction, period. Personally, the second season gripped me more than the first. As with all productions there were scenes used for padding but I used those as interludes for me to gather my thoughts and put the storylines into perspective. Okay, okay, it may not have been easy to follow, at times, flitting between the Greater Nazi Reich, the Japanese Pacific States and the Fatherland, but stick with it and you'll be surprised how quickly each episode passes. If I wasn't wrapped up in all this Christmas malarkey I would spend the festive season reading the book and watching both seasons, again. How sad! |

![]() Really enjoyed the last few episodes though - it's a little far fetched but entertaining. |

Very odd that they should use BT 705 payphones in early 1960s America and have Nash Metropolitan cars, made by Austin in England.

I think the Nazis and Japanese ruling the world was a bit odder.
One must simply suspend disbelief in anything which relies on parallel universes or even a single pair of universes. For example, in a parallel universe I am obscenely rich and married to a blonde nymphomaniac who owns a brewery but I must live with what I have in this version. |
