Iphone 5S photo's question
Hi,
I'm confused....My phone shows 1600 photo's taking up 1.6gb of storage in phone photo library, I have 30gb of available storage in ICloud so would expect photos to be uploaded to the cloud so freeing up space...iCloud photo library, optimise storage and upload to my photo stream is on. Anyone got any answers to why this isn't happening? Thanks in advance Chalky.. |

Even if the photos are being uploaded to iCloud they will still be in the 'Camera Roll' on the phone until you delete them.
Try deleting a couple of pictures you don't worry about losing as a test. |

Try deleting a couple of pictures you don't worry about losing as a test. The Photo Library uploads full-resolution new photos to the Cloud and can be set to automatically keep only small thumbnails (used for the indices) on the device itself. My ~6Gb of photos are taking up ~500Mb on my 16Gb iPhone at present. Obviously accessing a photo downloads the full-resolution version which is kept for "a while" - i don't think you can specify when it gets discarded again! On the other hand my 64Gb iPad is set to download only full-resolution photos - so it is mirror of the complete Cloud Photo Library - as it has the space for all of them! |

Haven't got camera roll option only photos, shared or album...when deleting photo warning comes up the photo will be deleted from iCloud Photo Library and it was....
You can choose in Settings -> Photos & Camera from two options. "Optimise iPhone Storage" - will keep only small previews of the photos and the full ones on iCloud. When you tap on one to view, it will load from iCloud and then after a day or so delete the big and keep the small. "Download and Keep originals" - keeps the full size ones on the device. Setting to the first option will save space on your phone. Don't delete as that will delete from iCloud and the phone - which other posters may not realise as iCloud photos is pretty new. |

This is because you have iCloud Photo Library on, and that means no camera roll option.

However, perhaps the OP can tell us what version of iOS they are using on their 5S. |
