It looked like the usual steps you get in a paso to me, but even if there was some walking there is a big difference in the way a good dancer walks and the way a bad dancer does. Most male celebs just stomp flat-footed through a paso, but Jay's movement tonight looked the closest I've seen on Strictly to a male pro's movement in a paso. I think he was undermarked, but I imagine the judges know he is doing well enough in the voting for it not to matter.

I've just watched the dance again and I have to disagree. Of course there is walking in the Paso, but he did some fabulous shaping and when in hold moved wonderfully.

I thought he did a lot of walking as well and said it here at the time. I think the problem with Jay is that his Jive was so good i am expecting everything to be of that standard and its not going to be - last week proved that!
I also thought Kellies legs seemed really heavy and that bloody suitcase was a distraction! I reckon Kellie was exhausted from the week of training for this dance at the frantic pace and it showed in her legs tonight. |

I agree with all this and he needs to drop the act. It's so annoying.

somewhere along the line he has just failed to individuate yet - he seems 25 going on 12 and overly attached to his mum. he has some of the accomplishments of an adult without inhabiting the experiences. in the past i've likened him to a musical child prodigy - all the right notes, but none of the depth or emotional connection. send him back when he's 35. if his mum will let him |

I preferred Kellie's, slightly, but I thought they were both overmarked. Sometimes the judges seem extra-tough when marking good dancers; at other times, they let the good dancers get away with a lot, as I thought they did with Kellie and Jay.

Well I thought his foot work was beautiful. It didn't look like walking to me.

Jay shows a lot more personality when dancing than he seems to at other times; perhaps this was a close to passionate and connected as he could get.
I think his jive was a bit 'dance by numbers' too, just with better numbers. |

Maybe that's because he is a (very, very) good dancer.

It's clear you don't like Jay, but you have a very strange definition of the words 'posing' and 'walking' if that's what you really think.
I have standard definitions of both words.I don't like or dislike Jay. I don't know enough about him to do either. But I think his dancing is over-praised and over-marked. |

Technically Kellies jive was great in every way and for some reason I felt underwhelmed - not sure why. I thought Helen very good but is still a little stiff- Anita was excellent. Jay was great - maybe a little more shaping but definetly back

It is just my opinion, it's just how he comes across. He's in a boy band so I doubt he is Mr Shy and I doubt Aliona would behave the way she does towards him if he was.

His jive was dance by numbers??! Must have been the winning lottery numbers then... I think he nailed the character in the jive.
