I don't think it helped that wardrobe had kellie in an outfit that was a cross between Tim Curry in Rocky Horror and Sally Bowles in Cabaret . Topped off with a man's bowler hat and with her long hair tucked up to look shorter it was a very androgynous look in general .

She certainly did. And she seems good-natured about it, and willing to do whatever it takes to put in a good performance (but then, as an actress, she is accustomed to that in her day job).

The amount of sheer rubbish posted about the celebs on here, though, is astonishing. There is no filter. Like people have forgotten or never learned what is and isn't socially acceptable and just go out of their way to be as vicious and vindictive as they can for no good reason (aside from the nebulous and patently ridiculous 'I don't like him/her'. When they've never met the person in question and don't know them personally. Basing 'dislike' on traits you see on TV is not a reason).

Personally, I've seen better behaviour from 10 year olds in a playground. And I left such behaviour behind when I left school.

Why is expressing an opinion about something in my opinion that spoils her dancing seen as VINDICTIVE! !!!??
Some people are far to easily offended on here. Go onto the appreciation thread if you want to hear only positive comments or simply don't click on it!!!

Ad hominems are not opinions or basis for an argument.

Perhaps, 'I find Kellie's dancing lacking in traditional ballroom poise', would be more appropriate?

But then again, it wouldn't. It was a flipping jive! It's not suppose to be 'feminine' (whatever than means). It's a bouncy, frenetic, rough, fun and dirty dance. It came from a time when women were slowly throwing away traditional roles and liberating themselves from the expectations of what 'feminine' was suppose to be.

The dance itself had minor technical issues, but it was great none the less. Loved it.”

I disagree. The female should be graceful regardless of the dance. Would you ever describe Aliona as looking 'rough' in her jive? No. She still remained feminine - by this I mean graceful. But the idea of a forum is to express your thoughts. I don't see how saying that someone isn't feminine in the way they dance is actually 'offensive' or 'hurtful'. Craig or Bruno could easily say it! I found Bruno's comments to Carol MUCH more offensive than this!!@!

I disagree . Many jives look very unfeminine and yet are terrific . Jive is about energy and exuberance , not looking feminine . If you manage to look feminine then great, but otherwise just give it some welly and don't mess up your moves .
I doubt there is a tick box for femininity when scoring the jive .

Anyway , I can't understand why all the other jivers like Kate , Aliona and Natalie got pretty little flouncy skirts or bright feathery dresses and poor Kellie gets lumbered with a stupid inappropriate all black Tim Curry/Sally Bowles outfit . Wardrobe

I don't think what you posted was vindictive. I think maybe some of us read your comments in the context of a general wave of anti Kellie (and Kevin) sentiment prevalent on the forum at the moment which can be vindictive.

To pick up on your points you and others made. Yes, in dancing the styling for men and women is generally quite different. I must admit, I've always thought of these differences showing more in the arms and the body. Maybe there is some stuff she could do to tidy up her leg movements (although any major issues passed me by), but I would say that is technique (equally applicable to male dancers) rather than accentuating femininity. The jive was fast and challenging and so it may have been difficult to correct those sort of issues, but perhaps when she dances rumba there will be more opportunity to get the legs coming under the body and the feet brushing more (if that really is a problem; I'm not sure it is).

I'm not a particularly accomplished latin dancer (more in the Anton mould), but I don't think I would ever consciously try and look feminine when dancing. It might end up looking a bit coy and twee. Rather, I would try and get the right styling and technique and then just try and be 'me' when dancing.

I agree. I think the Jive and Charleston are more about "attitude" than looking feminine. That doesn't mean it can't be sexy, but it doesn't have to be "girly".

To my eye Kellie has a hard body; toned and muscular without much flab to soften the overall effect. She's got great legs though. Part of the problem - may be even the main problem - was her outfit, as another has remarked. It's not a traditional jive outfit and a better dress/flouncy skirt would not have gone amiss. In fact she would have looked better in a suit like Kevin's.

So,you could have said you think Kellie isn't graceful and perhaps got a lot less flak...though I think she has been in some dances anyway

How old is Kellie? She has the face of a 50 year old.

If, in a bespoke dress Jamelia's bust is spoiling the fit - the problem is not her bust, but how well the dress is made!

I did wonder if it was deliberately an attempt at looking androgynous, to fit with the spy theme. Not sure though then why a dress, but either they'd run out of high street trousers or they thought both in trousers could look too much like the dreaded same sex couple.

Have you met her? If you knew her you might find that she's a nice person. She's actually not 40 yet, but that's beside the point. People of any age should be allowed to enjoy themselves and show exhuberence by screaming if they so wish. It's much less childish than making unpleasant remarks about someone you haven't even met under the anonymity of a keyboard.

Personally, I have no particular feelings about her looks or apparent personality, but I have enjoyed all her dances, particularly the Star Wars Charleston. She's not my fave but is def one of the best IMO.

I have met her actually.
And i am not the only person to 'dislike' her so not sure why you have jumped on my post to get on your high horse

I don't mean the fit though , although the dressmaker in me thinks that that one last night looked most oddly assembled .
I mean the boobs stop her from getting a good fit against tristan when in any tight hold . Maybe she is self conscious of the fact that in a tight hold her boobs are very squished against a man other than her fiance ? Then her boobs get in the way when she does those arm twisting/tangling moves .
I'm top heavy myself and very aware of trying to balance my top and bottom half in outfits so maybe I'm being too picky .

They should not stop Jamelia from getting into the correct hold or get in the way! Any shortcomings in her hold will be down to other problems.

The "i cannot stand the woman" comment made me respond to your post, and I noticed another of your posts saying she looked 50. I couldn't understand the vitriol. If you've actually met her, then maybe you have a genuine reason for disliking her, but you didn't actually say you'd met her. I don't think it was unreasonable for me to assume you hadn't (you must be in the great minority). If you don't want people to counter-act harsh comments, don't make them.

I take as I find and have no objection (so far) to Kellie or her dancing. I generally prefer to read and make positive comments about people rather than negative. That includes defending people who i feel are being unfairly criticised. It's just the way I am.

I don't know if she's feminine or not feminine. What I feel is that she lacks grace and elegance which you need to get over, even in the jive. The awful shrieking we get every show more or less personifies the personality she projects on the dance floor - a lot of verve and enthusiasm but lacking style or depth.

Blimey - Kellie is maybe not 'feminine' in the sense of wafty and fragile-looking, but she looks feminine enough when delivering a ballroom dance. Last night was a horror for her - not an attractive costume, and her and Kevin's jive was so fast I'm amazed she didn't fall over. She's not one of my favourites, but 'unfeminine' is a weird criticism of her!

After reading some of the posts I feel so bad for her. She doesn't appear to be horrible and never argues with the judges and takes all the criticism given. I don't think people should be judging her on her looks, but more on her dancing. OK I am guilty of forgetting her but last night I did remember her dance and what she looked like.

I think it's indicative of something that the insults thrown at Kellie are things like "she looks old" "she doesn't act her age" "she's not feminine" rather than anything about her ability or talent. It's a way of putting women back in their box.

I think you should be ashamed of yourself for saying such horrible things about Del Boy's mother, especially as she's not even alive to defend herself.
