Too generic, especially with the guitar which is very dated. He should be able to perform without it, but maybe he can't.

Out of all the overs I liked Max the best last night. Had the tv on but was on the iPad at the same time so wasn't watching just listening and he sang the best in my opinion.

Don't know how far he'll go in the contest but based on last night he deserves his slot. I'm pleased Simon put him though.

He was one of the best on the night to me, he just performed with no gimmicks which I like.

I liked his version of Gangsta's Paradise, and also Iiked his voice more than all the others in his category. Once he gets more exuberant in his personality I think he'll do well on the show.

Agree. Could have been a very strong category (and I'm sure it still is for some) but the overs aren't nearly as exciting to me now that Jennifer isn't there. They were all very good though. Jennifer was just easily one of the best this year for me

I think he has a great voice, but he doesn't have a stand out personality so he'll be forgotten in amongst the top 12, his voice made him stand out amongst the overs who are quite poor this year, but add in the boys, girls and groups and he'll be out quickly.

Based on his performance alone he should easily have got through . Seems nowadays that appearance and package come way before actual talent , If he was a hot young boy /girl this thread wouldn't exist . Jennifer should have easily gone through too but didn't generate enough dollar signs on the inside of Scowells eyelids .

I completely agree that based on his performances in 6 chair and judges he should be through but I think what is interesting he did actually get through. Main reason being for me he is the only act through so far (and prob will be the only act in the ginal 12) to have no pimping and back story. I think its fantastic he is through but am (happily) surprised. Hope he gets some good material in the lives though - fingers crossed!!

I agree so much Marsha! Max is amazing - I love his voice and his style. It's so different to the usual Over fodder. Max may even be the first credible Over we've had - I was hoping that Andrea Magee would take that title back in 2013 but was gutted she didn't get through. So I'm really happy Max got through! A proper musician! Along with Ben and Louisa, Max is my fav <3

Imo after his performance he definitely deserved to get through. It's Bupsi who is taking Jennifer's place. She seems like a nice lady but was definitely the worst of the 6.
