Wildcard tonight?

They've got an hour and a half to cover the boy's results and the girls.

Even if it's 15 minutes to summarise last night's show and the boys results and 45-60mins to cover the girls, we've got a bit of a deficit. Also, the stage will look emptier with two of the categories having only half the singers there.

I think they'll hype up the X-Factor app, and in the last 15 minutes, the 'fifth judge' will select a wildcard act to go into the finals.

Problem is they've only got 7 live shows to get 12 contestants down to 1, i don't see how they can afford to include a wildcard as well?? That being said, it wouldn't surprise me tbh

there is obviously going to be some fake drama tonight with an about turn of some description

i expect simon to be interviewed by dumb and dumber and admitting he made a mistake with his selections and has to add jennifer as a wildcard for the live shows

or there to be some sort of sing-off for a spot

There are 3 in the final though, so that's only 9 live shows and there are usually a couple of shows where two end up being kicked out. So the numbers seem about right to me.

There's obviously way too much time remaining, so I would expect at least one wildcard, probably voted in by the audience, maybe after a live performance.

They would just do double eliminations at some point. Although I would change the double eliminations process slightly. Usually they have the person with the least votes leave and then a sing off between the next two with the least votes. I would just do a 3 way sing off. Then the judges electing which of the 3 to send home. And the public would be the fifth judge in case of a deadlock, which I think should happen all the time! So instead of dragging out the results on the results show. I'd have them announce the bottom two or three in case of double eliminations nearer the start. So show starts and they do a 5 minute warning/ countdown on screen. They remind us of the performances etc. Then first guest star comes on while voting is counted. Ad break. After break, they announce bottom acts. They all perform. They then open the app vote and each person gets a free vote each for which act they feel should be sent home. This could work as the FIFTH judge based on the sing off. Then in case of a deadlock, it would go the to fifth judge results, which would be results from the app vote. They could even show a graphic going up on screen to build the tension, instead of an announcement.

Well it's actually 10 live shows including the final if no double eliminations. But I read somewhere that there's only going to be time for 7 live shows as it is, which means already the show requires 3 double eliminations, and so including a wildcard as well means they'll need a 4th. It's perfectly possible and I'm not ruling it out, but 4 is a lot of double eliminations

if we are really lucky instead of doing 3 or 4 double eliminations they could just send half of them home the first week

The could have 16 if they did two live shows one Saturday one Sunday and do double eliminations for a couple of weeks it should work out

Negative is 2 hour shows every Saturday and Sunday so it's quite a lot in one weekend but it's doable

Loads of double eliminations - bottom one goes 2nd and 3rd bottom in the sing off. You could be down to six acts by week 4 of live shows if they wanted to.

I reckon they will have one wildcard place up for grabs in each category but they'll open up a public vote of some sort - probably using twitter hashtags like they did with the judges categories with the result next week.

I can just imagine it. Simon pretends he's tossed and turned all night and his non existent conscience got the better of him and made him realise he just HAD to bring someone back.

Cue fake gasps and whoops from the rent a mob and bad acting from mockney boy. Simon once again is the hero and the DM website goes into meltdown.

If there is a wildcard I reckon it will just be one Wildcard this year due to there not being many live shows this year .

Would not be to shocked if there was a wildcard this year.

Ha ha, I can just see this happening, it's just typical xfactor!

Then on live shows, the judges would comment something like:

"You are the reason we do this show, go give someone like you another chance"

"After that performance I am glad I made the right decision and bought you back"

"You deserve your place on that stage, you owned that song"

Think I may have been watching xfactor and reality programmes for far too long!

If anyone deserves a wildcard then it is Jennifer. She was completely robbed of her place in the final.
