Apparently the Daily Star is reporting Channel 5 is launching a new soap set on the Devon Coast...

A lot would depend on scheduling. There's not many logical slots.we will have to wait and hear more it I don't see it working.

I dont think its a Channel 5 thing, I just dont see any new soap launching successfully again, anywhere. The era of mass audience is over, that is when the soaps start, that is not the case now.

Also 90 minutes of soap in the early evening, that is alot, one thing I know its being set by the coast, like Home & Away.

The only way a new decent rating soap could launch now would be as a spin-off of one of the existing soaps. We may well get to see if this theory holds true when the Kat and Alfie 6 x 60min drama airs next year.

It's hard to imagine C5 launching a new soap. There doesn't seem to be anything on the Daily Star website about it.

do you honestly believe that will be a hit lol? It will only be popular with some of the eastebders fans. I can't see it rating well at al.

Never underestimate the power of Kat and Alfie. For some reason Eastenders viewers seem to like them

Perhaps the thinking is its a niche soap maybe late night rather than trying to be a big soap competing with and in the same league as Corrie, Emmerdale and EastEnders.

Great night for C5, they're on good form on weekdays at the moment. Solid for Peep Show and The Apprentice.

Do you know how the 2 hour Beatles show did Dancc?

ITV2 marked the upcoming return of I'm A Celebrity with an Epic Trials special, watched by 0.32m (1.5%) at 9pm.

Factual is doing the business for Channel 5. They have a variety of factual now too. I associate factual with headline grabbing titles more with Channel 4 now more than Channel 5.

I think the Peep Show rating excludes +1. It has never been a blockbuster anyway.

Did The Apprentice: You're Fired make BBC2's top 3 for the day Dancc?

Cheers. Will probably be around 3m with everything included. Not brilliant but for a cheap list show it could have been worse. It'll end up with a very similar overnight to the 2.96m that The Nation's Favourite Queen Song got in the same week last year.

Thanks for all the early morning data you post Dancc.

It must be exciting for them to see GPs Behind Closed Doors rising every week. Could the massive series order pay off and it become a big channel defining hit?

Also, according to Broadcast today, they will be ditching benefits shows and moving more upmarket in 2016.
