Thanks Dancc.

I think this year Masterchef: The Professionals is rating slightly better

We could end up with Cuffs turning into a rolling drama like Casualty and Holby. Whilst a good addition, it will undoubtedly strangle another night on BBC all year round. Saying that, stripping drama across 5 nights a week at 8pm could work well for the BBC.

Eastenders on a Monday and Friday, Holby Tuesdays, Cuffs Wednesday, Casualty on Thursdays. It would take a brave controller to do something like that though, turning Eastenders into a twice weekly soap again.

It would free up a slot on a Saturday evening and two early evening slots where the BBC could try something different like a pre watershed comedy at 7.30pm ............... and now back to reality.

That Holby figure is hit by regional opt outs though, would be over 5m otherwise.

Not sure they'll renew Cuffs. The numbers aren't great and it isn't consolidating massively either. It's not a massive improvements on Waterloo Road last Autumn (about half a million) and it has clashes with Corrie and IAC to weather yet.

Decent for both reality shows last night. IAC down a little on last year but in the grand scheme of things it isn't really an issue.

Cant see Sky letting go of F1 so would ITV be happy with a similar deal to BBCs current one?

It's not a bad shout. ITV would be pretty pissed. I'd put Casualty on Fridays instead of EE as I think it's more suited there.

Monday 8pm - EE
Tuesday 8pm - Holby City
Wednesday 8pm - Cuffs
Thursday 8pm - EE
Friday 8pm - Casualty

ITV would probably then just put Coronation Street at 7.30pm every weeknight, or perhaps they could switch to 60 minute episodes as well so

Monday 7pm - Coronation Street
Tuesday 7pm - Emmerdale
Wednesday 7pm - Coronation Street
Thursday 7pm - Emmerdale
Friday 7pm - Emmerdale

Ah fair enough. However I do think these things need time to build, no?

About 400,000 of the Holby overnight audience is actually viewing River City in Scotland.

It seems to of levelled out very slightly up on last week ep 2 consolidated to 4.22m after the same overnight figure as last night so not bad at all ok not brilliant but I'm sure Waterloo road was getting somewhere in the 2's last year can't see it in the barb top 30 maybe someone can confirm.

Some eps of casualty are around 4.7m.

So not a massive difference between Holby, casualty and cuffs really.

I think the bbc should give it another series and see how that goes.

Sorry about the mess still can't work out how to do multiple quotes ?

I agree, that is a decent enough figure. I am enjoying Cuffs, it is easy viewing and a good continuing drama, not to taxing and at 8pm just the ticket on a cold dark November evening.

Do we have its overnight last night yet?

I like the idea, but I would move EastEnders to Tues and Thurs and I agree Friday is a good night for Casualty. However itv would scream the house down and would not like this one little bit. itv no doubt would go moaning to their new best buddy the Rt Hon John Whittingdale, OBE, Member of Parliament for Maldon and Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport. If itv won't stop the clashing of the soaps, perhaps this is an alternative the BBC could threaten itv with?

Looks like Peep Show and Toast Of London had low ratings last night.

I think there are plenty of Reasons The X Factor is failing this year. It was put very well earlier today. The TV audience can't be taken for granted or treated as mugs forever. They get bored.

People are BORED. It really is that simple. You can reschedule it or do as many revamps as you want but plain and simply people are bored. The same dramas, the same "characters", the same "journey's" the same lines said by the judges. Human beings will not endlessly watch the same thing over and over again.

If BBC can't afford it then ITV, if interested, should play hardball as F1 is currently at its most least attractive with many boring races

Off thread slightly but there is an "ITV Gala" at the Palladium tonight. They're setting up right next to where I work.

We thought it was the Royal Variety given the amount of barricades, lights and cameras but the RV was filmed last week.

Looks like a big event. Anyone have a link to what this is and (if and) when it might be televised?

Well they're launching the ITV Hub tonight (to the public next week apparently) which will be replacing ITV.com and the ITV Player on web, tablets & mobiles and connected TVs.

I wonder what else is going on at the ITV Gala. There's tweets by the @itvmedia twitter account but no idea what the hell this event is. There's a red carpet and all sorts of nonsense...

Rufus Radcliffe says "Big day today. Couldn't be more excited. #itvgala" He was responsible for the huge ITV rebranding in 2013.

ITV Media said the other day: "Only two days until the hottest event of the year & we can't wait for you see what we've got in store. See you on the red carpet! #ITVGala"

Could it be a big kiss-arse event for the benefit of advertisers? The photo in this tweet contains the slogan "where brands live".
