Thanks both.

Yep, definitely looks like it's an industry thing to snuggle up to the advertisers.

Must be sheer coincidence that it's on when IAC is airing.

I guess for the other 49 weeks of the year, only BGT drums up the same amount of interest in those lovely 16-34s night after night

Doors open 5.30pm and close at 6.15pm.

So I imagine if there's any decent 'news' we'll hear it this evening sometime.

Wonder if it's streamed anywhere?

I imagine this ITV Gala will be something similar to the Upfronts that the U.S. networks do every year.

Might get some snippets.

She's more likely to do X Factor as it has her record buying demo. It won't add 2/3m viewers. We'll see how much of a draw Adele is with her BBC1 special on Friday.

Looks like a big event. Anyone have a link to what this is and (if and) when it might be televised?”

It's an idea that has come over from America where commercial channels sell themselves to advertisers. Channel 4 had one earlier this week and they along with ITV, Sky, UKTV and other commercial channels have done this fora few years. Usually some programme info comes out too.

Last year ITV Upfronts revealed Broadchurch 2 preview and Peter Fincham "reflected on the past year".

From 2013's write up:

Quote:
“Fincham took to the stage, and opened by admitting that ITV had had a couple of "challenging" years, with the BBC holding the broadcast rights to the Queen's Jubilee celebrations and the London Olympics and Channel 4 broadcasting the Paralympic Games, which had affected its share of viewing in 2012.

"We knew that this year was important to show what we were going to do."”

Wonder what Fincham has to say for himself this year. It's been an appalling year for ITV.

Downton Abbey gone. X Factor dying. No Broadchurch 3 until January 2017. Jekyll and Hyde low. Beowulf I suppose.

Perhaps he'll announce some new shows or even a revamp of the primetime schedule a la Simon Shaps years back. Doubtful though.

ITV Gala - wonder what they have to celebrate exactly?
Oh it will be profits wont it - the only thing they seem to be interested in.

Falling ratings in the morning

Falling ratings in the afternoon

Falling ratings in the evening

No new drama hits

No new entertainment hits

No new comedy hits

Basically BGT and IAC are the only good things they can talk about.

I don't think Adele warbling on will be enough to draw people to TXF. If One Direction couldn't do it then Adele certainly can't. I did read elsewhere an interesting article about whether Adele is relevant anymore. In this modern throwaway pop world, possibly not.

I don't see it making much difference to ratings, but good news all the same.

Given how much they contribute financially, we absolutely should get it the same day.

Well they are giving staff a 3 per cent salary increase plus bonus this year based on record profits.

I wonder how many of them will have read this book - The Dream that Died : The Rise and Fall of ITV

That's good because they voted to go on strike over pay a few months ago. And record profits mean nothing to Joe Public when they go channel hopping.

Well I'm no XF fan, In fact I've not watched it in years, but I'm not sure what that is to do with Adele being relevant?
How do you even quantify relevance? Her first two albums have sold 37 million copies Worldwide.
Her new single has topped charts all over the World.

Cold Feet to return next year with 8-part series, ITV confirm

A bit of good news for ITV - I'm sure it'll do well and pull a large audience. Its final episode pulled 10.72m to ITV in 2003.

In fact, I can see it taking the now-vacant Downton Abbey slot late next year on Sundays.

"Possibly the greatest red carpet list of all time"

ITV Gala stars tonight include Simon Cowell, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, Nick Grimshaw, Olly Murs, Piers Morgan, Davina McCall, Emma Willis, Amanda Holden, Holly Willoughby, Phillip Schofield, Bradley Walsh, Vernon Kaye and more.

Bradley Walsh, Amanda Holden and Stephen Mulhern to host.

Cold Feet was fantastic but I can't help but feel this could be a major mistake, especially as an 8 part series, a one off or two parter may have worked but it's been a long time since it was last on, and was designed at the time to be brought to a close so revisiting it seems a little desperate- However, if it's even half as good as the first time it was on then I hope it works out for them

Loads of Twitter hype about the ITV Gala. So many 'celebrities' there.

Shame they've got basically nothing good to talk about!

#ITVGala is the second most popular trend in the UK.

That link doesn't work now so presumably someone pulled the trigger a bit too early.
