I might have enjoyed it but at this point the main interest, in my 'amble opinion, is whether ofcom make ITV apologise for showing it at 18.30

Great rating, so sad to see Helen go, she is a great performer, SCD goes from strength to strength.

Great stuff for the IAC final. Huge share.

Could TXF final next weekend fail to hit 7m?

I really struggle to see how J&H can recover now. More amazing - although possibly not, considering Fincham and Bergg's business decisions - is the notion of playing the final two episodes, back-to-back, as a lead-in for Harry Price: Ghost Hunter on the 27th. Or do they want to kill that, too? The mind fails to boggle …

I can only hope that ITV have learned lessons in tone and scheduling from J&H so they don't make the same mistake with Beowulf … but I'm not holding my breath.

Is this the first time Countryfile has had higher ratings than X-Factor including +1 - I know it has done on the initial showing a couple of times?

Wow, XF literally has no momentum at all going into its grand final.

Last year it got 9.1m viewers. This year? I expect it'll still get a boost from casual viewers who might have sat through the whole series previously, but who are now sick and tired of it all. So anything between 8.5m and 9m.

But still an all-time low, I reckon.

Thanks - I didn't think it was a particularly strong Countryfile last night tbh, but maybe some people having it on as 'wallpaper' and waiting for the 7-day Weather forecast?

Astonishing rating, was this a terrestrial premiere?

Would tend to agree regarding the two episodes together, but I think Fincham and Berg do probably know more about the business than you give them credit for.ITV are on target to make nearly a billion this year. They have never been in a better position financially which for a commercial company is the main priority and always has been even under the Grades Bernsteins and Fox.If this programe was such a disaster financially you can bet they would have moved it,can imagine its not doing a well as they hoped but it is a decision they made and are sticking with it.

Great rating for Channel 4 and they promoted it.

It was indeed.

Had Channel 5 put their premiere of The Little Mermaid after 5pm they'd have had 2/3m for it. Speaking of Channel 5 that rating for Django Unchained is awful.

Disney have been VERY protective of their classic animations, many have only recently been premiered on TV.

Prospect of 195 minutes of advert interrupted/DoG stamped telly finishing past 1am for folk who have to go to work today clearly not attractive. They should've started it one hour earlier and cut some ads so it fitted before midnight and then would've +24'd as well.

That the abysmal Bulletproof Monk was deemed by Five to be worthy of a the prime-time slot yesterday just beggars belief and was a terrible lead-in to Django.

Having said that I thought Inglorious Bastards was a PoS so opted for the Swedish film on BBC4 instead.

You say that but they take any and every opportunity to tarnish said "classics" by doing multiple spin-offs, direct-to-DVD sequels, years often decades later.

Not for nothing did/do the staffers there call it Mousechwitz.

Yes but they didn't allow TV broadacasts for years because they wanted to have DVD sales instead. They felt a new generation was coming along every few years to discover them so TV sales were banned.
