I don't see XF dipping sub 6m tonight, even with judges houses destroying any momentum it had from scc- Guessing 6.3/6.7m (w/+1) is where I'd put it so roughly level week on week but not gaining much either (I think that's lost)

I'm a non fan so not watching, and certainly the poor performance of the home nations, which has reduced interest in the tournament, would also mean poor ratings if it was on BBC One. I think the final will get 4-5 million as there's no home interest and rugby has a far smaller following than football in England. ( The football world cup final gets three times the audience).

Yes, whatever channel it's on here, the interest bar core supporters has gone, ITV or BBC ratings would be affected by the dire England performance. It must have hit ITV projected income. Already down re XF.
That's a pretty decent figure for Citizen Khan. However, I'll be surprised if it keeps that level when Corrie returns to its slot next week. At least the BBC has one other moderately successful pre-watershed comedy (after Still Open All Hours of course).

Tonight will be the first time the final 12 all perform live, so it wouldn't be right for a Halloween theme.

I am not Samuel, and for BBC/ITV it WILL be a factor, if Halloween was cold, rainy, miserable, people would give, trick or treating or going out a miss.
In London, today has been warm and dry, the shops full when I was out, I can see treat and treating going well, I can see people going out for a meal and a drink, and that's before there is a great Bond movie on.
Ratings may well be down due to this on any channel, overall TV viewing figures may reflect this, unless, they all come back early and watch later in the evening.
It's a fact.

How often is Halloween on Saturday 31/10? When they scheduled this, ( and we know they did, as they showed everyone the schedule as they were frightened if SCD). They must gave known it's Halloween, viewers will expect it, it would give the first live show a boost.
Having a Halloween free zone, is a massive error, like a show at Christmas having a summer theme, it doesn't work, tonight with the 12 singing live would be right, and when SCD goes Halloween crazy, XF will look like your living room in January when the decorations have just been taken down, just a load of dry pine needles left on the floor.

Yep exactly, I'm not a great fan of XF but launching the live shows with a Halloween theme would be bonkers, SCD gets away with it because it's pretty camp anyway, but it's always felt wrong for XF to have these massive overblown stage productions, and the theme tonight is pretty good on the whole

More likely that as it's the first live show, they can't really do such an over the top theme like Halloween.
Gogglebox pretty much hitting 4m with +1. Still going incredibly strong. Khan did well!
As for The X Factor, history shows it dips by 12% average on Halloween in the last few series, BUT I think that it will be up on last week because last week's JH was terrible, and it's the first live show, so I think it will be at 7.0m with +1. But last weekends shows were so badly received that you'd expect the rating to halve or something!

obviously not because the tradition - and expectation - of Halloween specials hadn't then been established in the viewers heads. Now it's long established.

If BBC1 really believed in Citizen Khan it wouldn't be against Corrie. Didn't grow its audience when the second series went out in the 9pm hour. The highest it can go in overnights seems to be 3m so put it against Corrie. As popular as some of ITV's filler factual opposite soaps. That's its level.

RU is a far smaller sport than football in England, and many people see it as complicated and more violent than football, so today will really be for expats and hardcore fans. Also it really must have hit ITV badly, as England getting through the knockout stages, would have been 10 million viewers a match territory. Next time will be even worse for them( if they agree to the contract) as it's in Japan and will mean morning kick offs.
However, with regard to TXF, it's a very expensive show that ITV don't make, which adds hugely to its costs, and they can only make money on advertising, and if its ratings are falling, advertisers will walk on them. There's no potential for re runs of series, which adds to the show's woes if it falters, and foreign viewers won't be interested.

XF did well on Halloween shows in the past, it again is going against the tide, - since the Film ET Halloween and trick or treat has become a big thing, it's live it's 31/10, it's Saturday, there loss. Pointless is recorded but planned a Halloween show, SCD has, XF out of step.

Sorry, did you go shopping this week?
Yesterday and today a fancy dress shop in my town centre, had a rope " Disney" style queue, with about thirty adults queuing up. ASDA had a Halloween aisle, and nothing there, all gone, my son couldn't buy fake blood anywhere all shops sold out.
M&S has a Halloween meal deal for adults, Costa coffee a pumpkin special, Sainsburys and Tescos selling adult costumes, the whole of the U.K. is Halloween mad, bar one show, which is out of touch and you support , whatever it's does.
I bet if XF did it and SCD didn't, your opinion would change 180 degrees.
