Not really. The Halloween show last year was great but they couldn't really do a big OTT theme like that on week 1. The first XF live show is a big one for seeing the acts live for the first time, it isn't really the week to be doing a big dress up theme like that.

A pity it has fallen tonight though as like I said the Halloween show they did last year was really good.

I think it is on for a horrendous rating tonight. Quite possibly below 6m (inc +1) given how badly last week went (especially Sunday). Halloween hasn't affected Strictly much historically, so I'd expect about 9.5m for that. Doctor Who might take a bit of a hit though.

You say that but The X Factor didn't have a Halloween themed show across this weekend as recently as 2013.

It's been brought up many times already on this thread, people have been shouting from the rooftops about it, just like any negative X Factor/Simon news.

Think many many people will agree with you,its got absolutely ridiculous this year.The BBC are going totally over the top.

I can guarantee that if XF was doing Halloween, and Strictly wasn't, there would be people on here saying like 'Strictly doesn't need the gimmicky crap'. 100% it would happen.

Halloween is popular with both adults and children. Two pubs are holding Halloween discos down the road from me and the film channels are showing horror films later tonight. I can understand why Strictly is doing this, and wouldn't care if TXF decided to deck out its singers and judges in fancy dress, some people do enjoy this.

I can not believe we having this discussion, aside for some EE product placement, the idea that Strictly doing Halloween is in anyway wrong is dumb, and its not like all the dances are spooky spooky.

Halloween is fun, ive been out today, plenty of houses all deck out, looking amazing. I see no bad here.

I actually think, as derivative is it may have been, they shouldn't have scrapped the scoring system they planned. Also quite why they brought back Peter Dickinson is a little bemusing. Guess Cowell's a bit scared of making changes now after all the mistakes.

The set is the same old same old, the opening titles are boring and could have been refreshed along with other elements. The panel is kind of working, Olly and Caroline are kind of working... But it's all surprisingly stale IMO. They really need to cut the use of the theme tune after every act, I actually hate the X Factor theme tune.

X Factor really showing its age tonight I feel. Some contestants tonight wouldn't have made it past bootcamp a few years ago.

DW was epic tonight, well written, although I guessed most of what happened, will not say spoliers but every 'turn' Was very well signposted well in advance. Brilliant show.


Actually as a strong SCD fan, the first three odd dances did disappoint, the music was great, the dress, hair, make up, studio fantastic, the later dances all great, but a couple of dancers didn't deliver tonight, inc Carol Kirkwood. Great show, but some have lost stamina, Carol was ill btw.

Also Lots of trick and treating and lots of fireworks here. Seems Halloween, may be popular!!!

We dont have Waitrose round here,I did shop quiet religiously in Morrisons this afternoon if that tells you anything that has the slightest to do with what I watch on the telly.

I would just prefer to watch something adult as against a childrens programme which should be on at 6pm.
