You need to add HD to Corrie's figures. BBC 1 includes HD, ITV (annoyingly) doesn't.

And yes, Corrie does beat EE in the officials.

Typical of him to make it all about him. I'd prefer someone like Oli Bell who does a good job on Racing UK and could adapt his presenting style to suit a wider audience on ITV, something Nick Luck couldn't quite pull off, whilst still keeping racing enthusiasts on side and not trying to dominate the programme as Chapman would.

But I bet they'll go for Chapman. He's been desperate for the role of leading racing presenter for a while and no doubt he firmly ticks the personality, experience and knowledge boxes.

I do hope you get the help you need, basdfg.

Not the first time posts of yours have concerned me like this.

Yes indeed. Agree with you there.

God knows why Radio Times have Tangled down as a premiere, ITV premiered it several years ago. And A Good Day To Die Hard is an awful film, tarnished the Die Hard legacy. I'll never watch that movie again.

F1 is a good fit for Channel 4 with those young male demos guaranteed ratings too compared to horse racing. The Derby and Grand National will be perfect for ITV though.

How many good horse racing presenters are out there Dancc? Where can you go to find them?

I predict Clare Balding defecting to itv come 2017, then.

Cant see there being much racing on ITV1 apart from the big 2 though - but its a perfect fit for ITV4.

Yes, same here. I hope you are OK basdfg, you shouldn't have to deal with that.

I know we're only an online thread but I do feel like we've got a little community here especially with a lot of the regulars and it is worrying to read posts like that.

I thought Sherlock was indulgent rubbish but I suspect it will have got a large audience. Seemed to get a very big reaction. I'm sticking with my 8.6m prediction but wouldn't be particularly surprised to see it get closer to 2014's 9.2m.

From what I am reading on Twitter tonights Sherlock has not gone down too well

To be fair, most of them are very good. But it's about finding somebody who could take the terrestrial coverage to the next level and raise racing's profile again. ITV coming onboard is a great opportunity to do that.

It's not just about the presenter though obviously, the pundits are just as important, as is the tone of the programme. Would love Highflyer to win the contract back as for me they got it just right.

ITV's football coverage has improved a lot recently with the appointment of Pougatch and other changes so I hope they can do the same with racing as there's no doubt the C4 programme has underperformed and the sport has suffered as a result.

Out of interest, any other racing fans here amongst the regulars? Doesn't seem to be, which surprises me somewhat as racing is essentially all about numbers as well. Handicap marks, weights, race times, speed figures, RPRs, strike rate, sire stats, odds... Endless fun for someone that way inclined.

Bit of a strange move. I'm surprised that the horse racing authorities are happy that a lot of the meetings will be shoved onto a minority digital channel like ITV4.

Ditto, most people I've seen have absolutely slaughtered it, I think it may be a case of Steven Moffat trying to be too clever again- It'll rate very well for this episode though and no doubt when the series proper returns in 2017 they'll forget this misfire and hopefully move on

I think Sherlock will be a mid 7m easily. I predict it to be at least half a million higher than the next highest rated show there has been in the last 10 days.

I wonder how C5 will fare this January with CBB returning, which I don't think will be anywhere near the heights of the previous couple of January series. But it's the perfect time to launch Lip Sync Battle a few days into the run. But judging by history, CBB has never been a good lead in, Lip Sync Battle may launch in the mid 1s, but it will be under 1m soon after IMO.

Also Gotham starts on Mon 11th, and the season looks great. I hope it can hold up better than it did in the last half of S1 ratings wise.

My interest in race begins and ends with the National, but I would imagine there will be some miniscule audiences on ITV4. Declining audiences and only one truly significant ratings event, its a good get for ITV in general I guess but no bed of roses either.

Completely agree. The episode was a huge letdown.

Moffat's got previous for this kind of thing unfortunately. It's going the same way as Doctor Who. Exact same thing put me off that.

Yes it was dreadful, and I've enjoyed all 3 series immensely over the past few years.

Moffat desperately needs reeling in. This self-indulgent crap is all getting a bit much now.

They may be trying to increase the actual audience for the Grand National and the Derby, but the trade off is a lot of meetings being shown on a digital channel......one wonders where they'll draw the line between what gets on to ITV1 and to ITV4.

Thanks everyone. I have tried dealing with him in the past but he persuades people he is the victim of me.
MBB was much better tonight than last week but still not at its best.

Channel 4 moved racing to More4 on occasions, and it's likely this would have happened more often with Formula 1 to fit in as well.

If ITV4 can get an audience for something like the Indian Premier League during the day, then I'm sure racing can also work for them.

Sure, the audience would be lower than than it was on Channel 4 but the majority of the loyal racing followers would find it and the extra viewers on the big days - the ones where betting turnover is at its highest - would make it worth it.
