DW was excellent tonight, as good as anything from the Tennant era, and I think it could get its highest rating this series as word gets out. Also with TXF in a decline now and the RUWC finished, perhaps the show will rally.

Nope, people just don't care about DW as much as they used to, regardless of the competition. Maybe people like watching dramas now that don't patronise them and treat them like kids.
We'll see.

This is a rather odd view to take towards what drives the ratings of a show that does and always pick its viewers from kids watching with the family.

Very good Doctor Who tonight; excellent cliffhanger. It's a shame it won't be reflected in the overnights, though.

I thought both X Factor had some good moments tonight and a surprisingly high level of talent- Some duffers but on the whole pretty decent, but the show felt very very long which may have put people off- And for the second week running I was disappointed in Strictly, it needs some better quality dances on the whole as the show's kinda stagnating for me atm

X Factor felt like X Factor again. Much improved, though Caroline Flack is shocking. I found it a lot more alive than Strictly but that's just me.

X Factor was more back to normal tonight, which was probably what they needed after last week. I think there are some very good acts in there. One or two duds as you'd expect but on the whole it's a good level of talent.

I expect an utterly appalling rating though. Having the guest performance at the end won't have helped either.

I too thought TXF was good tonight after last weeks shambolic frankly laughable show, it was quite entertaining tonight - although I'm still disapointed Jennifer was not in the LIVE shows.

I predict 6.7m inc+1.

I think they'll be delighted with 6.7m including +1 after the shambles of last week and subsequent Sunday figure.

The XF live shows will surely build the momentum now with a consistent, reliable and most importantly live and reactionary format week after week. Maybe 7-8 million on average by the time of the final?

X Factor was great tonight. Hoping it does well.

Although the reliance on past contestants for the guests as one tonight and tomorrow won't help at all.

I've never felt the guests had any impact at all really, or if they do it's just stupid. Top of the Pops had all sorts of big acts on all the time and it was never that big a deal, indeed obviously people lost interest completely. Personally I couldn't really care less but it does make for nice filler in the results show.

Tomorrow is the start of the month BBC One likes the least, November. In about two weeks IAC will start and when this is being shown for three weeks, BBC One is often beaten big time. Also the end of European football on ITV means the show is now uniterrupted and IAC, TXF and DA means ITV probably has its most lucrative month of the year.
It's probably a shame for them in the first two months of the autumn as they were hoping England would go all the way in the RUWC, but the team stalled in the first round and a huge ABC1 male audience was lost.

Considering ITV's year with just about everything, or perhaps everything, would you bet against I'm a Celeb having a truly poor showing this year

She probably wants to do it to show how "down to earth" she is. She's not too good for the lowly X Factor , etc. Even though she definitely is. I respect her for saying she'd go on it.
