No words. I don't think it was down to Halloween at all, tonight's rating will be interesting to see if it was down to Halloween or not.. But god, that's dire.

Halloween, and the very late finish. They really didn't need Ben to perform at the end,

That X Factor rating is absolutel awful. Partly Halloween effect but also a direct result of the shambolic shows last weekend I think.

I think Halloween probably did have an effect as we saw that last time the 31st was a Saturday XF took a bit hit too.

That won't be the whole story though as that rating is so dire. I do think last week's awful shows have basically killed it.

This series was actually going OK. It got 7.8m for the Sunday show just two weeks ago. I think they destroyed it all last week.

Shocking for The X Factor and Doctor Who.

X Factor lost any ground it regained last week.

These X Factor ratings are rather hilarious.

From Hassaan.

Pointless Celebrities: 4.53m (24.9%)
Strictly Come Dancing: 9.35m (45.9%)
Doctor Who: 3.87m (19.4%)

Rugby World Cup Final: 4.92m (32.8%)
The X Factor: 5.63m (28.6%)

Figures include +1 and are tapechecked.

Very disappointed with that XF rating. It'd be interesting to see where it peaked. Still baffles me that they allow it go on past 9.45 when surely they've realised the longer it goes on the more it drags down the average.

Olly and Caroline did OK, but it did feel weird without Dermot for the first time. A lot of competent performances but lacking many wow moments.

Eastenders territory for X Factor. The Halloween hit 2009 figure was 10.18 wasn't it?

The mighty have fallen.

Good for SCD but it has gone higher on Halloween. Maybe if it had been bucketing down last night it would increased both the main players.

Hard to know where Dr Who is going. There will be a decent timeshift ofcourse.

Arguably both XF and Dr Who could do with a rest-not a cancellation but a break to come back refreshed.

Yup. Only 19.7m watching TV in the slot which is very low for the time of year.

Halloween is a lot bigger for some people this year, especially young adults.

The theme on X Factor last night was also a joke. Meant to be 'This Is Me' but clearly the contestants were forced to sing songs chosen by producers and most of the show fell flat because of it. The manipulation is worse than ever before. Not a vintage year for X Factor.

I think the x factor rating was dire to be honest but Halloween been on a Saturday does have the added appeal and people would go to party's etc.

it also finishing way to late dare I say they probably get more if they clashed with SCD.

Last weekend though has done the show no favours.

The problem now is it to easy to catch up at a later date YouTube has millions of viewers etc SCD get a couple of thousand because the show is more appealing on a first sitting.

although it not the same consolidated ratings will be interesting.

I think they will average out around 6.5 million next week if the show was good last night for next week and sunday 7 million while it might finally look like it is on the way out what are they gonna replace it with.

I believe the negativity surrounding the first four episodes has had an impact, combined with yet another two part story is likely putting folk off.

But that theory will only be tested when they get around to transmitting a self contained single episode story.

That didn't hit me until now. That is approaching disaster for XF. Voice effect and more. How will Simon Cowell even begin to spin that?

Every dull figure for XF just increases the chances of ITV wanting TVUK for themselves imo. They have to cover all eventualities.

Appalling ratings there for TXF and DW.

Even with Halloween to knick the figures, that's a truly awful rating for a decent show really- Any momentum it had has been nipped in the bud, and it looks like it's going to limp along to its conclusion this year- I will be watching the voices figures with interest this year as it's suddenly becoming a viable decision for ITV to replace XF with it

Great for SCD though it wasn't the best of shows.
Awful for XF. I think they are paying the price of just too many changes. Judges, presenters, wildcard, fake publicity, auto tuning.
The public has become bored of it.
They do seem to have some better singers this year so it may rally.

Commercial channels are more interested in the amount of advertising they can sell. If they can have more ad breaks in a popular programme, which consequently brings the slot average down, so be it.

The Zygon Invasion - Overnight Viewing Figures

3.87 million viewers watched Doctor Who: The Zygon Invasion, according to unofficial overnight viewing figures.

Doctor Who had a 19.4% share of the total TV audience, where is was the 5th most watched programme of the day.

Top of the day was Strictly Come Dancing with an audience of 9.35 million watching. The dancing had a nearly 4 million lead over the second placed The X Factor which was placed directly opposite Doctor Who, and managed 5.63 million.

The Rugby Cup Final, shown on ITV in the afternoon, had 4.92 million watching, while Pointless Celebrities, for the first time, managed to beat the Doctor in the overnight figures, although this position is likely to be reversed when the final figures are published next week.

Overall Doctor Who currently stands as 38th for the week.”

World Cup final got what I was expecting, 4.9 million. Very good for a time of day ITV normally struggles against in and not a bad way to end a tournament that's been a sad let down for them with regard to England. However, TXF shedding a million viewers in a week, this is worrying and I wonder now if next year's will be the last as it seems to be steadily dying.
As for DW, a shame, this was the best episode of the series, but maybe a lot of the audience were out last night( ditto XF) and will watch on catch up. If you add in catch up, it should get closer to 6 million.

Absolutely a disaster there for The X Factor. I didn't think that it would drop below 6 million. It is nearly 2 million down on last year. If it follows a similar pattern as last year though, the Sunday figures will be higher.

I'm not sure it's any worse than before - they're just, oddly, being more open about it.
