Just re-reading the soap producers announcment for the ITV soaps, and its states that Kate Oates will begin her tenure this January, and not April like I originally thought. So we should be seeing her work coming through on screen as early as March/April

It would have been crazy to not have Kate Oates start as soon as possible.

Just in time for her to make her mark on BGT week, as if rumours are true she's keen to get rid of Blackburn's storylines as soon as possible.

Digiguide has updated. The Getaway Car starts Saturday 16th January at 6:50pm on BBC One.

Nice 10 minute head start on Ninja Warrior UK. Will ITV push their schedule back tomorrow?

With Jekyll & Hyde being cancelled who would want to infest more time watching Beowulf and other shows if ending on cliffhangers?
Bad times these are and why best to PVR shows.

Never end first series on cliffhangers.

Worth pointing out that nobody knows if these shows would have rated better in another slot, so this endless talk where everything is badly scheduled and would get a better figure in a made up schedule is pointless. Very few slots are easy and will always be up against something.

It seems to be that unless the show airs on Sunday or Monday 9pm with a dozen of strong shows either side and a weak show on BBC1 then it is defined here as being badly scheduled.

Great ratings last night, good figures all round, if only they could be that strong all the time.

Have you all seen the BBC3 rebrand. Proof that W1A is actually a fly on the wall documentary not a sitcom. The soon to be online channel now seems to be called "BBC II!"

There was no way they could keep it going. But the poor scheduling has given both their new fantasy dramas a death wish before they'd even aired.

As someone else said, might as well axe Beowulf now. Launching with 2.6m, there is only one way this is going to go.

I'd love to be a fly on the wall at ITV after the rating for Beowulf came in. Was it a sudeen releasing that they have buggered up the scheduling for a 2nd time?
Why not? It's only this rampant speculation on performance which makes us believe that a show has to be cancelled if it doesn't achieve 'X' ratings.
I mean it's not as if the vast majority of ITV's output does much better. As another poster has said, why doesn't ITV cancel everything that isn't a soap or a reality show?

There's no point in investing so much in something if you aren't prepared to follow through with it and fight to keep it going.

Having said that it comes as no surprise that it was cancelled. ITV is the home of no surprises.
We knew that they probably weren't going to keep it, the news of its axe is predictable.

The thing is with Beowulf and Jekyll and Hyde that so much of the investment will have been spent on resources which could be used again, such as sets, 3D models, costumes, etc. So I would think it would be getting your money's worth if you could reuse those items. It's not as if the full investment needs to be made again after the initial investment.
If they don't at least try to support their investment and instead just simply give up then it's like pissing money down the drain.

I'm not sure about The Getaway Car. Not sure if it will work but the clips I've seen in trailers have made me chuckle.

Agreed. Jekyll & Hyde had 4.3m viewers in it's first episode. If people liked it they would have kept watching it but they didn't. It doesn't matter what day or time it aired.

Good numbers for ITV News. They should try Regional news at 10pm and then have National news at 10.30.

"This is ITV News at Ten......Thirty"
Having the regional news first in the late news hasn't being tried, Should go for it as it is different from national news on BBC1 at that time.

To piggy back on the idea of ITV having the regional news at 10pm could ITV not just repeat the 30min 6pm bulletin at 10pm obviously doing it live if news breaks between 6 and 10. With the itv news following at 10.30 as said above
